Not sure how many times this needs to be said. Saying you'll fight guys from other divisions does not automatically mean you'll let them bend you over and screw you in the negotiations. It doesn't mean you'll fight at whatever catch weight they want. It doesn't mean you'll magically find $5M to pay them. This is NSB. posters historically interpretation of what boxers say has been literal rather then the reasoned nuance of what they said like you surmise in this post.
