Haymon lost $430 mil in one year. Just imagine how many big fights would have been made with that kind of money?

Many of his fighters are now inactive.

This is the worst boxing has been in the 17 years I've been following it. The fights everyone wants to see never happen. There's only a few compelling young fighters. Everyone wants to get paid big money for easy fights. It's ugly. The past 18 months have been pathetic. I've never lacked this much interest in it, while I never want to miss UFC now. It's a shame.

Everyone seems to be looking for easy fights and get overpaid. Then tweet some big name and pretend they want a big fight.

Boxing needs a total blackout for one year.

You can probably take every poster on this thread and count how many fight cards they've been to this year on two hands. If you want more from the fight game, go out and support the fighters instead of searching for streams and calling every fighter with a loss a bum.

The fights fans have been waiting to happen are not happening. Fans have been patient, but people in the business don't seem to have any interest in doing them.

yeah to be honest im considering watching a lot more ufc, seen a few cards now and they always seem to be entertaining. Theres so many good match ups to be made in boxing but we are lucky if we get one good match up every couple of months. With the amount of fighters and divisions you would think there should be a decent one every couple of weeks.

It all boils down to one problem: the big matches aren't happening, the best aren't fighting the best

this is happening because current top fighters are aware they can make big $$$ by fighting bums and no hopers, no need to risk a beatdown at the hands of another top guy when you can make nearly as much fighting some random scrub. Keeping your ¨0¨ also becames a top priority as it increases your marketing value, therefore, ducking dangerous fights is a must

Floyd is the prime example of this formula, a serial cherrypicker and ducker, who, once he became a big star, decided to fight nothing but tailor made no hopers and washed up hasbeens, and still became the highest paid athlete in the sport for his overglorified sparring sessions.

Floyd became the face of the sport, P4P #1 and best paid boxer on the planet while fighting mismatches, denying the fans the matches they wanted to see, and boring our asses with his risk averse style, the fact that a man like this became the blueprint for financial success is what's killing boxing.

Now everybody wants to make the most $$$ while taking the path of least resistance, and now that Floyd's gone, his shadow is still lingering and damaging the sport through Haymon, who's also promoting mistmatches and rewarding his fighters with millions for fighting bums.

This is Floyd's legacy, and is the worst thing that has ever happened to this sport
This is true to a certain degree. A few big named fighters have adopted the Mayweather mindset as well but other things have happened as well that made boxing decline. I think the bigger issues here are the networks and promoters not working with each other. Imagine the great match ups that can be provided if this wasn't an obstacle?

I think a major blow to it as well was the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. Fight was so terrible it officially turned off the majority of casual fight fans and I don't see anyone constantly doing 1 million ppv buys ever again because of it. In a lot of ways, I wish the fight never happened because of what happened to the sport after it was over.

True in certain cases, but what about the fighters in the Haymon stable? What's keeping big fights from happening? Do you have any answer? Your so-called network/promotional Issues are non existent in this case.

Thurman vs Garcia, Thurman vs Spence, Thurman vs Broner, Thurman vs Brook (not a Haymon fighter but have no issue fighting anyone, ie, Porter vs Brook), Garcia vs Porter, Garcia vs Broner, Garcia vs Spence, Spence vs Porter, Spence vs Broner, Spence vs Peterson, Broner vs Peterson, Broner vs Berto, Broner vs Guerrero, Porter vs Berto, Porter vs Guerrero, Porter vs Peterson, Brook vs Garcia, Brook vs Broner, Brook vs Spence, Lara vs Andrade, Lara vs Williams, Lara vs Charlos, Lara vs Quillin, Lara vs Jacobs, and so on...

As long as there are fanboys and not enough fans of boxing , the matchmakers will continue to exploit the fanboys by matching the likes of joshua and canelo vs C-level opposition
