        Boxing's decline is Mayweather's fault

It all boils down to one problem: the big matches aren't happening, the best aren't fighting the best

this is happening because current top fighters are aware they can make big $$$ by fighting bums and no hopers, no need to risk a beatdown at the hands of another top guy when you can make nearly as much fighting some random scrub. Keeping your ¨0¨ also becames a top priority as it increases your marketing value, therefore, ducking dangerous fights is a must

Floyd is the prime example of this formula, a serial cherrypicker and ducker, who, once he became a big star, decided to fight nothing but tailor made no hopers and washed up hasbeens, and still became the highest paid athlete in the sport for his overglorified sparring sessions.

Floyd became the face of the sport, P4P #1 and best paid boxer on the planet while fighting mismatches, denying the fans the matches they wanted to see, and boring our asses with his risk averse style, the fact that a man like this became the blueprint for financial success is what's killing boxing.

Now everybody wants to make the most $$$ while taking the path of least resistance, and now that Floyd's gone, his shadow is still lingering and damaging the sport through Haymon, who's also promoting mistmatches and rewarding his fighters with millions for fighting bums.

This is Floyd's legacy, and is the worst thing that has ever happened to this sport

This is what pisses me off about Haymon. He had the platform, the talent and the resources to truly do something major with his little project and he made a complete and utter ****ing mess of it from the very start. He used valuable airtime to serve up dross and scared away the casuals and further alienated the hardcores. Now he's all out of money and having to resort on Showtime and its ****ty ratings to bail him out.

Is Showtime also broke? If PBC can no longer afford the excesses of the divas in Haymon's stable, why not hand them over to Showtime?

Boxing is Done-zo! UFC took over with better marketing and actually making the fights fans want to see.
