Comments Thread For: Arum: Pacquiao Rejected Crawford Over 140 Weight Demand

According to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, the main motivation for Manny Pacquiao's decision to select Jessie Vargas over Terence Crawford was the weight. Crawford, following last month's victory over Viktor Postol to unify the WBC/WBO junior welterweight titles, made it clear that Pacquiao would have to moved down in weight to face him at 140-pounds.

It's going to flop with or without Crawford's involvement

He did himself no favors in his last outing from an aesthetics standpoint

Besides - Pac has no business anymore with someone like Crawford. Vargas is the safe choice

Roach hasn’t discussed weight with Pacquiao yet, though would preferably have him box at welterweight in November.

“I’m not sure what weight Manny will fight at, I’ve not spoken to him about it yet but it could be 140, he walks around at about 142 anyway,” he said.

“But he likes to have breakfast and lunch on the day of a weigh-in [laughs] so maybe it’ll be 147. Plus he’s a much nicer guy at that weight [laughs]. But the November fight could be at 147 and then after that he could drop to 140, that wouldn’t be a problem.

I knew Pac would use that as an excuse to duck Crawford. Thats why i was pissed when Team Crawford were saying that dumb ****. Obviously it was ammo for Pac to duck him.
In all honesty, it wouldn't have mattered what weight the fight would be at, Pac wasnt fighting Crawford by any means

You spend all your time on here bashing pacquiao for not taking the hardest challenges available even if it means him having to move down a weight he hasnt made in 7 years. Pacquiao already sealed his legacy as an atg, 3× fighter of the year and fighter of the decade. He has nothing more to prove, at this point he is just cashing out. You should be goading fighters like keith thurman and danny garcia into fighting the best fighters available. They wouldnt even have to switch weight classes for that. But for whatever reason you think manny still has to prove himself while the young lions should take the easy fights lol what part of the game is that?
