So did Abraham (one loss by DQ at the time), Groves (undefeated at the time), Bute (undefeated at the time), Taylor, Pascal (undefeated at the time), and Glen Johnson who's fought EVERYBODY possible....oh yeah and that guy named Ward.Comment

Agreed but look at who is he up against - 3 of them are certain 1st ballot HOFers and Canelo started at 15 yrs old and much of what he has got is due to the huge Mexican fan base.
GGG is incredibly overhyped. But badly promoted is not something that can be levelled at K2.Comment

If that's what it takes to get guys in the ring to at least get some quality opposition on your resume, then WHO F'N CARES??? The whole problem is this f'n guy is trying to make money and he has a **** resume and NOTHING to offer. So Jacobs isn't a big draw, fine...I've got news for you NO ONE in the MW division is a huge draw. Do you know why? Because it's WEAK! Want to make a name? Stop pretending you're something you're not, make a deal with Canelo, take short money, choice of gloves, everything, and then fight, and beat him if you can. Then the money and fame will start rolling in. For God's sake, stop whining that no one will fight you! You did less than 100k PPVs. You're NOT a star.Because
1. Gggs career high is 2m. Jacobs is the much less popular challenger
2. Jacobs Quillin was a disaster, shockingly poor ratings and poor gate
3. Jacobs opted to make 3x less vs Mora
4. All these deals have Ppv upside. If he really brings something extra to the table, he'll end up making much more than vs Quillin from the Ppv proceedsComment

He can have every right to desire more money - it is a free country [just about] but it is not a realistic desire - who is going to pay him that money - he was lucky to get 1.5M when Al was still feeling flush. The problem is while SOME of these "talks" might be true, it's not like Loeffler has been the most honest guy out there. I think the "everyone is ducking him" excuse is played out. If they wanted to make fights bad enough, they could. Jacobs may indeed have ducked the fight, however he knocked out cold a top MW in less than 1 Rd. Now, typically when you have an impressive performance like that, you usually are paid more and more as your wins over TOP competition a stack up. This is why golovkin has been stuck making the same money for many of his fights, and can't sell and PPVs. So realistically Jacobs had every right to want more money considering his win over Quillin right? If not, why not?Comment

All the contenders are buying into the hype though:Agreed but look at who is he up against - 3 of them are certain 1st ballot HOFers and Canelo started at 15 yrs old and much of what he has got is due to the huge Mexican fan base.

Canelo forfeits
Saunders: he would beat both Eubank and me on the same night
Jacobs:. Ggg is number one, I'll fight him in 18 months
How often do you see that? Not to mention Froch himself, who was offered 168 in the UK. Famously said: swerve him like the plague, punches like a mule, dangerous fightComment

I think Froch kinda contradicted himself. Yet the thing I took away from his analysis is that he believes Brook is being completely underestimated by the fight fans. I agree. Brook is no chinny Amir Khan. GGG is deservedly the favorite. But Froch is letting the doubters know that Brook will be GGG's biggest challenge to date. An arguable point. But it has it's merits.Comment

Most claim that much of his fanbase is Mexican fans as well. Canelo was babied for many years, I'm not defending him, but the fact is that he's fought Floyd, Trout, Lara, and Cotto...he lost to 1 (2 imo but the record says not) so he IS the main draw here. That's just fact. He's come out and learned and has turned into a smart fighter, and very decent counterpuncher, with decent head movement. I don't like Canelo, but I give him much more of a chance than many here.Agreed but look at who is he up against - 3 of them are certain 1st ballot HOFers and Canelo started at 15 yrs old and much of what he has got is due to the huge Mexican fan base.
