Quite frankly, Barrera was overpaid as **** as it was. And even even if you think Shabransky deserves around the same half mil, it simply was not in the budget unless you think Ward should take 50/50 to fight a guy nobody has heard of. Don't think anyone really necessarily ducked here. We'll see next year again when HBO's budget is normal again.
Brand vs Shabranskyy sparring clip (the guy Ward ducked/declined for Brand)

Dan Rafael saying that Shabransky' team wanted more than 2x the HBO license fee, and later finding out that HBO paid less than 1/3 of the purses coincides with the small license fee not being any different.

wasnt in the budget man, hell Ward only got 850k for this fight..so it appears only 880k was offered for this fight..so he priced himself outDid some digging around, and here's what came up.
B57_Sports (on Twitter) appears to be responsible for handling Shabranskyy or at the very least is part of his team in some way. They claim to be "Brilliant57 Sports Management," an athlete management firm. Their latest tweet confirms their Shabranskyy ties.
We've set aside tix for @Shabranskyy fans to the Aug 19 @belascotheater @LAFightClub purchase early call (213) 239-4669 @GoldenBoyBoxing

They posted a tweet claiming Shabranskyy only wants what Sullivan Barrera was paid to fight Andre Ward.
@steveucnlive whoever is feeding you info is wrong. @Shabranskyy is willing to fight @andreward for the exact same purse as Barrera
— B57_Sports (@b57_sports) May 7, 2016
So, how much was Sullivan Barrera paid according to the commission?
#WardBarrera purses from commission: Ward $1.85 million. Barrera $450,000. Diaz $50K. Velez $30K. #boxing

There you have it. Shabranskyy wanted at least 450K to fight Andre Ward.Comment

Oh, and here's a thread that includes Brilliant57 (B57 Sports) posts regarding that situation: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...710122&page=18Did some digging around, and here's what came up.

The posts should be on the last page of the thread.
According to a post, Shabranskyy will take 400K, but that's still a lot more than the 60K Freedom. claimed.
Conclusion: Calm down with the ducking claims if you don't know or want to understand the financial element of the sport.Comment

well whatever way you ward lovers paint it out to be, it looks an awful lot like ward was ducking shabransky from where im sittingComment

Considering his ratings, Ward is the most overpaid boxer in the sport.Dan Rafael saying that Shabransky' team wanted more than 2x the HBO license fee, and later finding out that HBO paid less than 1/3 of the purses coincides with the small license fee not being any different.

He received just under $2 mil for Barrera and for Smith. Even the $850,000 he was paid for Brand was way too much for a boring boxer facing a clubfighter who received just $30,000.
You came up with the $60,000 Shabranskyy. You said twice as much as they were willing to pay they paid Brand $30,000. Simple arithmetic.Last edited by The Hammer; 08-13-2016, 12:32 PM.Comment

Also, remember that purses that you see in commission report's don't include the promoter's cut. That's separate. If Shabransky wanted $450k, that's still probably at least another $150 that goes to the promoter, which adds up to around $600 Roc Nation would have to pay. Again, coincides with what Dan Rafael said about his team asking for more than 2x the HBO license fee.Comment

wards a greedy son of a *****, some fighters would rather share the purse out a bit more and prove themselves against someone of a decent calibre, thats not andre wards style though. His style is to get himself a nice juicy pay packet to beat the **** out of some bum who is getting paid cents.Considering his ratings, Ward is the most overpaid boxer in the sport.
