Why is Bread rooting for Ward when he's boring and hasn't entertained the fans really his entire pro career? And when he cheats, fouls, measures, holds, and ducks below the waist?

Wouldn't boxing be better off if we supposed the clean fighters, who don't foul or cheat, who travel, who are road warriors, who will fight anyone, and actually attack, and fight entertaining fights? That's why I'm rooting for Kovalev, because I care about the sport of boxing.

People seem to have forgotten how Kovalev boxed patiently, from a distance, behind his long jab, for 11 rounds against BHop and only started going forward to close the show in round 12.

Kovalev can do the same thing with Ward, and he will be waiting for Ward to do his usual thing of jumping in with a flurry of punches then holding, mauling and head ****ing close up.

Sooner later Kovalev will either catch Ward jumping in or nail him with one of his favourite long range combos - hard jab to the body followed by a big long right hand over the top.
What do you think his response will be to the flurry punches holding? He usually uses his strength to push off and in some cases slammed his opponent to prevent holding. Ward likes to upper cut off of that.

Also what if Ward decides to lead with his jab?

Ward is undefeated and that's a fact.
Andre has fought 5X since beating Froch in Nov. 2011 and thats a fact.
Mostly everything else is opinion. Ward has the respect of fellow boxers which probably carries the most weight but as a fan, to me, he's really hard to watch.
I just don't appreciate the holding, the jumping in with his head, his hitting on the break and his way of slapping with his punches.
I'm always rooting for the other boxer to catch him flush when Ward does that move where he takes a half step back when the ref breaks a clinch and then steps forward punching while the other fighter is still stepping back. Maybe someday he'll get caught with a good shot.
I know the grey areas (holding, using head, elbows, forearm etc.) are part of boxing but I always think a boxer who doesn't use those tactics is at a disadvantage.

So, Kova should use the same style that you criticize Mayweather for using?

            Interesting.

You must REALLY want that win
