Nobody can really accuse Ward of not fighting the best in his division before his time out of the ring. He cleaned out SMW.

For some reason i do feel like this fight will not happen this year, i don't know why.

But on the other hand, it doesn't seem either guy has anywhere to turn and both need a big fight. If seems the idea of Stevenson fighting any of these guys is a no-go, so they only really have each other.

I'm sure Roc Nation will be keen to get some return on their investment. They must have smart enough businessmen in Roc Nation to realise Ward is never going to be a big crossover star so they can't bide their time. He needs to be fighting in any big fight available like this one.

Beterbiev is a name at 175, although mainly to boxing followers as opposed to casuals - but still that is a mouth watering fight against the winner of Kov Ward. There are some other up and comers too, and according to Ward he "wants to dare to be great". All my (admittedly small-ish) points on Kovalev to win. And if you give me enhanced odds, I'll give you the win even if Andrea manages to get to the end of 12.

Dude i think Kovalev beats him and i hope he does , but why do you bash Ward so much ? the guy is fighting the best LHW next give him some credit instead of bashing him non stop , did he wanted to get payed to fight Kovalev ? OF COURSE so HBO gave him 2 paychecks before the fight , does he deserve it ? probably not , but he wanted to those paychecks and got them like GGG wanted the brook paycheck (and i love GGG but it is what it is).
It is a great challange to take and i commend him for taking it , my boy GGG has yet to take such a task in his career regadless of explanations and reason he still did not had a 50/50 fight or even something simliar to those chances and not just because he is an amazing fighter but because he never faced an elite fighter around his weight class (or higher which is usually the harder fight).

Props to Ward , I hope Kov knocks him out in a great fight!!!!

Fair enough, and I will give props / have a lot more respect for Ward when and if he actually climbs through the ropes against Kovalev. I, like a lot of people, are tired of his tune ups, fighting no hopers in Oakland, making everything difficult for promoters and opponents, just one thing after another with this guy. There were far more viable fights than the last guy, even ones that he could win but would still give him some credit. Umar Salamov is one I've been following for a while - he is no pushover but someone you'd expect to give Ward something to think about, and a good preparation for Kovalev. The reason why he doesn't do this? He's not sure he can beat them, simply put.
A hugely weight drained Dawson is his only name since the super six, a very long time ago. There's an excellent documentary on the dangers of weight draining and it's impact on the body - this is not to be trivialized and certainly puts a huge asterisk next to that Ward win, and other than that he's supposedly P4P on the strength of a headbutt stoppage win against Kessler and his Froch win. If he was to fight Andre Dirrell next, my money would be on Dirrell. Sorry man, can't buy the hype.

Good stuff, I'll buy you a beer in Vegas. I want to see his reaction when he gets tagged. You know what - if he had Froch's chin he might just outpoint Kov, he'll certainly win some rounds, but at some point (as you point out) he is going to get hit hard, and then what?

Great fight, and a fantastic opportunity to bet on what I believe should be a huge favourite, but we're getting slight underdog prices, it's like printing money.
