It's taking way to long for a decision. But it's still not Wilders fault. He needs to worry about getting his hand and arm back to 100% right now. The fight was a close fight with myself leaning towards Povetkin. Front at may never come back the same though, only time will tell.

Yea the WBC guy has dropped the ball with this decision in a huge ass way. I've been waiting for the boxing scene article where he once again announces that he'll be making a decision on this situation soon.
I think you play your hand better from the start, but for sure you make a call one way or another when WADA made their ruling that seemingly Povetkin was within acceptable limits if Ryabinsky's quotes about the amount they found in Povetkin's system are correct.Comment

Wilder is going to beat the **** out of Povetkin. Mark my words. He's going to knock him out, finish what Klitschko started. Beat him down.Comment

WBC is pretty kind to their heavyweight champs. They let Vitali coast forever with his injuries.
I just hope Wilder doesn't turn out like that. Sounded like somewhat serious surgeries he's having.Comment

yeah where the **** is the wbc on this? Sulaiman made several statements over the last couple months, now silence.Comment

WBC is seriously dropping the ball in issuing a decision.. but this statement from Wilder is pathetic. He flew back home before any actual facts came to light, he said that Povetkin is a cheat and he'll never fight him, AND he's now had 3 surgeries which will keep him out of the ring until 2017.
Now all of a sudden he wants to fight Povetkin? Being injured is not a carte blanche to talk crap.Comment

It's the fault of Wilder and his team for not being fully aware of what the situation was with the meldonium tests. as it was on the probationary period during that time. Since WADA did not really know about the drug and its excretion process, they gave an allowance as to what amount that could be in a person's system at the time of the test. If it fell below 1 microgram, then the athlete is fine.
Povetkin was at .07 micrograms , way below the threshold. When it was known by WADA that there was a presence of meldonium in Povetkin's system, all parties were notified. The WBC, Wilder's team, Povetkin's team, and the venue/sanctioning body for the site of the fight. Since it was so small, the WBC was willing to go ahead with the fight. Povetkin's team was willing to as well. Wilder's team wasn't.
Now earlier in the year other athletes were caught with it in their system, but they were such small amounts that many of them were cleared. Igor Mikhalkin, who was an EBU champ that got stripped because of a positive meldonium test, is appealing that as of this moment. There are a few more examples in an LA Times article made back in April.
What gets me is that the WBC knew of another fighter that was tested positive for drugs, and they left the decision to the opponent whether to go forward or not. He said yes, and that ended up being one of the best back and forth fights of the year: Vargas-Salido.
Now why would Wilder's team make the fight be cancelled when there wasn't a full understanding of how much meldonium was in Povetkin's system and if it was within the allowable limit? Not only that, why put at risk the most lucrative fight that Wilder would have in his career up to that point?Comment

Considering Wilder's latest string of opponents, who would he fight for a tune-up? Shannon Briggs? Joey Abell? Brian Minto? Maybe he can get Peter McNeely to come out of retirement.Comment

Hopefully someone that can pass a drug test...any clean fighter is worth ten times on a resume than a highly ranked cheat.Comment
