Is nationality the main criteria in determining whether you like a boxer?

I really don't care where a boxer is from or what they look like. Even if the boxer uses good movement, I don't mind. When the boxer has a bad attitude or literally runs in the ring, that isn't someone that I'll support.

Ward is arrogant and he tries to force everyone to bend to his will when he doesn't carry the pull required to make those demands. Mayweather was arrogant and chose to fight guys after they had surpassed their primes, always had the benefit of fighting in his hometown and brought in a lot of money to that economy which allowed him to ALWAYS have the benefit in the judges eyes, not to mention, he was abusing PEDs more than anyone else.

Personally, I'd prefer to support American boxers but most American boxers would rather make up excuses to fight older opposition and pretend it's the toughest challenge in the sport. That's why I do like Crawford, he is no joke and makes no excuses, he just goes out there and gets it done. Hopefully Crawford gets the Garcia fight and he takes the gift out of commission.

I would say this.. If you are a true fan of the sport then you will like boxers who you cannot relate to. My personal favs(active):
Wlad, GGG, Thurman, Crawford, Frampton, AJ

Although a fan remains true to the sport, he is liable to show a lil favor to his nationality & that is understandable..

I like versatility, nothing turns me off more than a fighter who can't fight from a certain distance, particularly on the inside which we see a lot. As for infighting, I can be bias because I tend to get behind fighters who can only fight on the inside.

My criteria for the boxers that I like are their willingness to fight other top fighters, the quality of their fights and the opponents they are facing, their skill level and to a lesser extent, personality. I can't name five active fighters of whom I would say I am a fan.

Fighters that I dislike are the ones who avoid quality competition. That list is very long.

3 of my five favourite boxers are from different continents, not the continents I was born on either. Nationally don't mean shyt to me, if I like a boxer I like him, period.

I don't have a current favorite from my home country Canada.

I guess it all depends. Boxing is an international sport where most of the fighters are coming out of poverty, ****ty childhoods, etc, regardless of country. These are how I determine whether I like a fighter:

                      1. Is he a warrior? I like dudes that bring it and go toe to toe for the most part.
                      2. Is he a professional? I can't stand guys that miss weight, get fat, get lazy after making a couple pay days.
                      3. Skills: I love creative combinations, hard jabs, and nice footwork. I respect defensive craftiness too, but I would be lying if I said that is one of my favorite skills to watch. Personal preferences.
                      4. Backstory: I'm a sucker for guys coming out of poverty...and yeah these guys that come from 3rd world poverty is different from American poverty..but I have a soft spot for all of these guys, as long as they stay true to themselves.
                      5. Is he a jerk? I don't like a**holes (outside of the ring).
