Are we really suppose to believe Globlokin was so feared only a welterweight would fight him? Its somewhat comical that GGG supporters believe this somehow. Brook just exposed Golovkim. This guy isn't feared at all. There is a line of guys willing to get in there with Gobblekin but he picks and chooses his opponents. They outright reject Hopkins and Lara because they want lower class opponents that they can KO. Imagine how much of a beast current form Miguel Cotto would look like if spoonfed the Glavlkin resume. Yep Bernard Glavokin is a fraud.
You've got to realise that when GG signed to fight Brook and it was made official, it was exactly 9 weeks to the day of the weigh-in. They set up an official press conference, rushed everything through, and then the fighters started their camps the following week. It was all done at the last minute.

HBO's date of September the 10th, has been in place since March/April. They are happy with the Brook fight, and it gives GG the opportunity to fight on a huge U.K. PPV where he can broaden his fan base. It would have been silly to have jeopardised HBO's date and the opportunity to go to the U.K. to try and fight a guy like Lara instead.

Who says Lara is ready? What's that based on? Twitter comments? Lara isn't even a MW and he also fights on Showtime. And before you say that neither is Brook, the answer to that is Eubank Jnr was his intended target.

Why don't you believe that GG's been avoided?

Canelo has relinquished his belt to instead fight Liam Smith at JMW.

Jacobs has said he'd prefer to fight BJS first, and he realistically sees himself fighting GG within the next 12-18 months. He doesn't want to fight him at this stage.

BJS also doesn't want to fight him at this stage.

Billy doesn't want to fight him yet.

He hasn't fought since last year.

He's got a tune up lined up.

He didn't bring up a WW. He accepted him as a last minute replacement.

As for GGG, he was very critical of Canelo when he fought Khan saying that Canelo is just a business man. No matter whether you like him or not, Triple G clearly made a business decision as this fight won't help his legacy. It's a lose-lose situation.
Are you unaware that Hopkins jumped from Middleweight to Light Heavyweight and took the IBO Light Heavyweight title from Antonio Tarver?

Are you also unaware that Trinadad was the current WBA Middleweight Champion and De La Hoya was the current WBO Middleweight Champion when they got in the ring with Hopkins? Furthermore, both were former Jr Middleweight champions, De La Hoya vs Hopkins was at a catch weight and Trinadad outweighed Hopkins at the weigh-in.

None of these facts can be said about Kell Brook.

This a business fight and that can be acceptable. What isn't acceptable is calling this type of fight "disrespectful to boxing" and "bad for boxing" but then months later, agreeing to the exact same type of fight.

            That's 5 high profile rejections.

            Canelo purposefully chose khan.
remember when canelo fought josesito? they tried to make fights with kirkland, paul williams, victor ortiz and ended up fighting josesito, well canelo still gets criticized for that, and rightfully so...
after eubank didnt happened, they signed brook in less than 24hrs, they didnt even tried for any other options, like ggg was married to hearn or the venue, no excuses for this...

What would you have done in his situation?

              Taken a mandatory?

Given up your HBO date and a chance to fight on a big U.K. PPV to try and fight someone else? Someone other than Canelo, Jacobs and BJS?

It would have been nonsensical to have refused Brook and walked away from the entire thing.

His camp started the week after the contracts had been signed. Everything was set up ready to go. He wants to fight on HBO another twice before the end of the year. HBO were happy, K2 were happy, so why refuse it?

Nobody would have refused it in his position.

Hopkins really has no room to talk seeing that the fighter he co promotes ducked the fight and ran for the hills and his best wins at MW consist of Welterweights.

Canelo vacated the belt because a fighter of his status has no reason to allow any sanctioning body to dictate his opponents. Canelo also has no reason to allow Golovkin/K2 to have any leverage in their negotiations; Canelo vacating that title removes any and all leverage that Golovkin had. Also, Golovkin's mandatory status equals a greater guaranteed split of the purse. A-side Canelo and Golden Boy have no reason to allow that purse split when Golovkin refuses to agree to their catch-weight demands and Golovkin has no PPV history. This is a business and everyone at Golden Boy knows that Canelo is the Lineal/RING Middleweight champion and there is nothing that Golovkin can do about that as long as Canelo defends that title against a ranked Middleweight about once a year, and there's a number of options not named Golovkin that can satisfy that qualification.
