It was the same with Mayweather Pacquiao. People said Pac would destroy Mayweather because of what he did to Cotto, Dela Hoya, Mosley, and Hatton compared to what Floyd did to em. However it don't work like that with these guys. These guys are technicians who only do just enough to disable the opponent and win rounds.
Except Pacquiao was old and injured. He would have beaten Mayweather in their primes imo, it's exactly why he did look so much more dominant against shared opponents. This fight is closer to Kovalev and Ward's prime so we may see something closer to what we would have seen had Floyd not ducked Pacquiao in his prime because "the timing wasn't right" and he was worried about his health.

Excep Floyd is a whooping two years older than Pac, but lets put that aside right now and pretend that Floyd doesn't age, how about Andre Berto. Did Robert Guerrero not beat Andre Berto way more than Floyd did? Does that make Robert Guerrero better than Floyd?

ps. Pac is the one who ducked a drug test in his so called prime. #scared of needles doe

I think Ward will win by comfortable dec. Wards speed will be the difference and he has a good chin.

The greats all have one thing that cannot be taught. It has nothing to do with power or speed. They must have the intangibles. Kovalev does not know how to adapt when things are not working his way. Can he punch with power and move? He does not seem to be able to figure that out but his coach, John David Jackson will have him ready. Andre Ward can win and knows how to win. That is why I think he will win a decision but he will still be criticized for not brawling and trading. Can't please everyone, be smart and win the fight. Make it look easy.

You should win, but I'm hoping you fighting nothing but absolute bums for years will cause you to struggle against a real life, quality champion. Otherwise yeah, huggy bear and pitter pat to a UD.

To me Ward didn't look convincing against...wait! who was that guy? Brand who?

What is interesting is that Ward was trying hard to put his way overmatched opponent on the floor. He hits him with 20-25 flash punches and nothing happens. How is he going to keep Kovalev honest?

That's exactly what's going to happen.

Mayweather would have beaten Pacquiao yesterday, today, tomorrow.

By January 2010..... everyone within Team Pacquiao knew that if Manny was going to fight Mayweather he would have to be 100% clean, because he WOULD be undertaking random blood tests by USADA..... THAT is why they waited until Pac's career was done before he took that almost guaranteed loss.

It takes a special type of " fan " to blame Mayweather because Pacquiao refused random blood tests.

                      Well done for being special.

We heard that same ******ed **** for the last 5 years.

And the difference in shared opponents is style/weight/timing..... stuff that casual fans know little about.
