Of course, theyll say Brand is a top ten LHW
Not sure where you and the other posters have been the last month. Virgil Hunter gave a pretty good list of the fighters they offered before settling on Brand. EVERYONE knows that this fight is about Ward getting rounds that sparring can't offer. Not sure why you guys are projecting an argument that no one is making.

I mean, he could find better sparring and go rounds in sparring. His last fight made sense as preparation. This makes no sense at all.
He is taking it to stay active and to build his bank account. He was out of the mix for over two years and needs to build up the bank account to fund his training camp for Kovalev

Ah, "anything can happen" was Duva's marketing gimmick for the Mohammedi, Caparello, and Agnew mismatches. Learns from the best.

I was with you until you proclaimed few versus multitude. Seems like you are one of the folks who play the race card to discredit others arguments against fighters you like. Funny, not sure how you determine ethnicity over the Internet with no profile pictures.

Virgil said it best if they not ready for Kovalev now they never will be. This match-up is strictly for some rounds and shake off ring rust something sparring doesn't really do. Kovalev has a style and trust during the lead up 2 their fight, I'm sure SOG will find sufficient sparring partners 2 emulate the style

As a Golovkin fan, I know all about trying to get fighters in the ring and then having to settle for whoever can actually write their name on the dotted line. That being said, Golovkin got and still gets, a lack of criticism and Rod Salka comparisons for fighting Wade. Is it not proper for the same critics of GGG for 100 to 1 odds, to be critical of Ward for having an opponent with the same odds?

There is a difference between offering fights to legit competition and getting official no answers and asking the IBF to select a new mandatory just to get the mandatory out of the way. Wade was a choice essentially. Brook was a choice as well. Not a totally illogical choice, but a choice. Golovkin was hoping to set up a fight with Alvarez, Ward has a signed contract to fight Kovalev. That difference alone makes the odds comparison a limited discussion.

theres literally no chance of an upset here. Even against someone this ****, ward will still fight so cautiously e.g clinching, not throwing power shots, headbutting

HBO would not let either Ward or Kovalev fight somebody who would beat either one of them and mess up this major fight coming up soon.. it's really that simple
