Difference is Kovalev is willing to be low balled and Stevenson is not. That just goes to show who really wants the fight and who doesn't.
So what I'm curious about is why is Kovalev not hungry for money?Comment

How many times has Team Kovalev walked away from a Stevenson fight? I know of at least 2-3 times
Kathy Duva walked away the last time because of network issues, which was ultimately about money. She said there wasn't enough money to go around. Why didn't Team Kovalev accept what was being proposed? Because it was about money.Comment

It's pretty contradictory, 1st. you mention Kovalev is willing to be low balled which prove he really wants the fight, and 2nd. you wonder why Kovalev isn't hungry for more money. Which clearly show how your first judgement was purely partial, and your second sentence only show how you were just starting to think about it.
You know, some people don't think before opening their mouth, they think after. Anyway, there's few things you must know, which may help your reflexion about it.
In Russia, boxing is not as financially rewarding as it is in America. "There is more money in professional boxing in America. I couldn't buy a new car; even credit was very difficult. All the money I made in Russia, I spent on food and to help my family. I was first in my division, but there was still no money," Kovalev said.
The crazy unknown fact about his pro career is he did not get paid for his first 18 fights in America. Egis Klimas was the manager who made it possible for Kovalev to be in America by paying for all of his expenses. Kovalev said he wouldn't have the chance he has today without Klimas, who finally landed a promoter in Kathy Duva at Main Events.
"I lived only with hope that somebody would sign me to a contract so I could make money," Kovalev said.
