Fantastic fight between USA-Japan a while ago. Balderas has a bright future.

Yunisov is moving extremely well and is doing a good job of evading the Brazillians punches, but he's reaching and over-committing on all of his punches and he literally has not landed a single punch to the head in the round.

          Morning session:

Alvarez vs. Tommasone: Alvarez won clearly, but he was underwhelming. Tommasone actually landed some shots and Alvarez missed a lot, but that happens when you're a volume fighter. The Cubans have not been super impressive so far in my opinion. Alvarez looked the best out of the three though.
I predicted that Conceicao would beat Alvarez in the Semifinals. If Alvarez continues to fight like that it may become a reality.

Balderas vs. Narimatsu: I thought it was a competitive fight with Balderas winning it. Balderas got a wide decision. Narimatsu was landing, but Balderas was doing more. Good competitive fight with a clear winner. I thought Narimatsu could have gotten a little bit more credit.

The American fighters have been using a lot of illegal tactics and they have been allowed to get away with, other than a few warnings.

Balderas has to beat Alvarez to medal. Even if Balderas doesn't medal there will be a lot of promoters wanting to sign him. He has a really good pro style. He is going to excite people. And he has been the most impressive (male) American fighter so far. (We've only seen two of them to be fair: Hernandez and Balderas, but I doubt the other four will have the star quality that Balderas has. I've seen them all before and I always felt Balderas was going to be the best pro and have more star potential.)
If Alvarez performs like he did in the first fight. Balderas may be able to do something. I think Alvarez will do enough to win though. Balderas is not super difficult to neutralize. Selimov did it nicely.

Conceicao vs. Yunusov: Not much to say. Conceicao won the first and only round. I believe Yunusov suffered an injury in his first fight. The fight was stopped due to the injury after round 1. Yunusov didn't really land anything.
Conceicao vs. Tojibaev should be good.

Alvarez vs. Balderas and Conceicao vs. Tojibaev are two of the Quarterfinals in the Lightweight division. Winners, obviously, gets at least a Bronze medal.
We will find out the other Quarter-finalist later today.
Another American will also compete later today in the Middleweight division.

Had La Cruz winning that last fight tbh. Decent fight.

Ruenrong on in 15 mins. I think he loses this round.

The odds are against him but if he can pull of some of his wily old tricks, he could pull it off. I'm surprised at the lack of stoppages so far.
