I think Hasanboy Dusmatov is still the leader for the Val Barker trophy. He dominated all of his fights against great opposition without losing a round. And he looked great in all of them.

La Cruz and Yeleussinov are strong contenders. The thing that hurts La Cruz is that his first two opponents weren't great.
If Zoirov gets Gold he is a strong contender because his opposition was good and he looked really good beating them.

Who else do you guys think is a contender?
Conceicao will probably be there since he is Brazilian and he had a pretty good tournament. His fight against Alvarez was close, but his performance in the final and in the two previous fights, before the Alvarez, were pretty good.
Robeisy Ramirez is also up there. He could have done a little bit more in the final to make himself a stronger contender. One of the things that I complain about Ramirez is that he doesn't fight hard enough sometimes. He could have made the final easier for himself by being more aggressive and letting his hands go out more. He stays in cruise control a little too much at times.

Shakur is still a bit inexperienced and green, he might actually benefit from sticking around for another Olympics. Doubt that happens, though.

Please STFU and stop being such a phaggot.
Really inexperienced but still showed he has the potential. I think he should stay but I doubt he does. Too many promoters are gonna be gunning for him

anyone out of ramirez, dusmatov and (if he beats aloyan) zoirov would be a deserved winner. they all had tough routes to gold

Melikuziev did better than at the Worlds only because of his spoiling tactics. Everytime he got close he held. He got hit with the cleanest punches and the harder shorts. Lopez could've made it easier by switching stances not sure why he didn't. Melikuziev, Dusmatov and Zoirvo are the 3 fighters on the Uzbek team that can box.

3-0 for Lopez, he didn't beat him up like last time cause Melikuziev would smother and hold on the inside. Same thing Shakur did. Shakur landed most of his clean punches from the clinch to the side and back of the head. Oh he also landed an uppercut after the break.

Uzbek will still have the most gold medals. Zoirov should beat Aloyev easily. Sotomayor will probably get robbed so that will be 4 golds for the Uzbek team. Who would've thunk it after being 7th in the Worlds 9 months ago. They bought 3 medals these Olympics.
