By Cliff Rold - It’s still here. After whispers and innuendos that seem to come up every four years that boxing will finally get the ax at the Olympics, it remains. That is as it should be. Some things should always be at the Olympics. Track, wrestling, boxing…pretty much anything that has an equivalent in the Iliad? Yeah, that stuff belongs in the Olympics. For those who wait every...

10 point scoring system, no head gear, and allowing pro's to fight were all steps in the right direction.

Cubans are in line to sweep the olympic boxing this year. Will be a shame for professionals to loose in this way

it's great that we're back to the 10-point must and no headgear, but i think i preferred 5x2 rounds over 3x3 rounds. it makes it easier to score. with these 3x3 bouts it's often hard to pick a winner unless one guy dominates. although i'm sure there will be plenty of robberies regardless; it's basically tradition at this point

Yea the no headgear and scoring should help this year. But in the end robberies are what hurt boxing the most

The draw was not kind to Great Britain. Pat McCormack has to fight Ablaikhan Zhussupov, who was my darkhorse of the division, for his first fight and if he gets past him he has to go through Toledo.
The Draws aren't as bad as in the past, but some of the draws still don't make sense.
Some fighters are seeded without accomplishing anything really. It's disrespectful to the fighters that have been putting in the work only to have to get a difficult draw while other fighters get easy draws and undeserved seedings.

just seen that fowler drew alimkhanuly in the first round too :\

but joyce and ali were always our two best hopes for gold to me

mccormack and okolie were my outsider picks, but meeting cubans early is never nice. still, if they get past toledo and savon then all of a sudden they become favourites
