Surely there's an equal case to, if he beats Crawford he'll have more experience with this so called style they don't like. . . And if he never beats Crawford, well The Floyd rematch realistically was never an option. (Probably isn't either way)
Imo they want manny to have an opponent that will make him look good

I think beating crawford would make a floyd rematch bigger than him beating Vargas.

Top Rank thinks all boxing fans are idiots. Bob Arum is using the same formula that he has used for years. He throws out a bunch of names just like he always does before announcing that Pacquaio will be fighting the person that Arum had chosen from the beginning to fight. Then, Arum's resident clown, Michael Koncz, starts spewing ignorance out of his mouth as if he had some say in the decision.

Does anyone remember the countdown clock that Arum created for Mayweather to sign the contract to fight Pacquaio when there was actually no negotiations held? Since that fight couldn't be made, Arum has to settle for making Pacquaio/Margarito (who had been told months earlier that he would be Pacquaio's next opponents).

It is unfortunate that there are thousands of boxing fans out there who are ****** enough to think that there was a chance that Pacquaio was going to fight anyone other than Vargas.

Arum will go through the same drama when Arum chooses Pacquaio's next fight, which will be Crawford. He will lead gullible fans to believe that he is negotiating a rematch with Mayweather, but when that fight can't be made, Arum has no choice but to schedule a fight against Crawford.,

IF Eric Pineda is Pacquaio's business manager, what the hell does Michael Koncz do?

I like this fight since I know Vargas won't be there for the money only. Vargas will use all his power and courage to upset Pacquaio. Yes of course Pacquiao still the favorite to win this.

This will be a firefight since Vargas will not take a step backward or dance away. He will fight fire with fire.

It is what it is. There are many reasons why this is the opponent and most of it has to do with financials. After losing out on Brook, Vargas ain't gonna be asking for too much so dangle a mill or so in front of him, get a KO highlight if possible, and convince Pacquaio to keep the career going. Manny and Floyd need to stay retired, seriously. Crawford would've been the fan choice of a match up but we ain't Bob.

If they decide not to pick up the Manny his contract with HBO is over which would put the fight on Showtime. Which in the event of Mayweather rematch leaves HBO completely out of the picture. Most know it's no way in hell Manny loses to Vargas.

Yea i heard about that. HBO has a tough choice to make.

                TC really said that?

Supposedly Bottom Line Bob lost 8 million on the last Pac PPV, now he is staging this? He must have early dementia. If he were AL Haymon I would suspect he was washing Highway Rick Ross' dirty drug money......

Maybe a Manny-Vargas/Krusher-Ward double header would have been a better idea. I'm sure 2mil ppvs would have been guaranteed.
