Hbo doesn't want to spend money on boxing.. It's a dead sport in America..

Boxing fans are about 5% of total subscribers, hbo gets a lot more return from their shows like sopranos, game of thrones, true blood, etc.. They are trimming back on boxing and spending the money on TV series..

Hbo use to spend 150 mil on boxing, but now just a fraction due to the waning popularity.

HBO's whole plan in boxing was to spend money promoting fighters on regular hbo, and long term, make tons in PPV.. But now the sport is so badly managed, that in America their is a lack of star power.. That's why hbo is really only investing money in 3 fighters, canelo, ggg, and kovolev.. Those are the only 3 fighters hbo will pay for, everyone else is going straight to PPv because hbo isn't going to pick up the tab

The biggest star, canelo can't even break 1 mil as the A-side in his biggest fight vs cotto.

Remember a decade ago, hbo had major PPv draws in roy, Oscar, vargas, lennox and also had guys like prince, morales, barrera, floyd that could still do 300-500k.. Now the 2nd biggest star Golovkin can't even break 200k..

HBO sees boxing as pretty much dead in America, and slowly getting out of the sport

With that $15 mil guarantee? That will be Roc Nations last fight if it's on regular HBO.

Time to let go of that dream.

I know the one I'm going to pay. I wouldn't miss Ward's execution in the hands of Kovalev.

You don't have to pay for that...or worry about missing it...it'll be in your dreams

Kov-Ward is the only good fight on there.
Pac and Cotto are names people have heard of though, so that's what they'll pay for because most boxing "fans" are mongoloids

That's all true but when is the last time a fight as expensive as any of these was on regular Hbo?
