Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: We'd Fight Jacobs, He's Rather Face Mora!

Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO/IBF/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), says his boxer would have gladly accepted a fight with Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28KOs) for September 10th - but claims Jacobs wants no part of his boxer.

According to Danny Jacobs they offered him the same amount of money to fight GGG as he made vs Peter Quillin and he called that chump change. Tom was at the Porter/Thurman fight sitting behind Jacobs, but they talked before hand.

This has turned from "Nobody wants to fight us" to "We would have fought so and so but. . . ."

            Jacobs is GGG's wba mandatory.

Golovkin has to fight him or get stripped.

They should just hurry up and mandate Jacobs. God know why they haven't.

Jacobs, also, has to agree to fight. It should be noted that shortly after the Canelo-Khan fight, the WBA stated they would order a Golovkin-Jacobs fight if negotiations fell through between GGG and Alvarez. Less tjan 48 hours later, Jacobs was unavailable, having secured the Barclays against TBA (later determined to be Mora).

Bottom line: Jacobs heard they were going to order him to fight GGG and ran for the hills
