Comments Thread For: Frampton MD12 Santa Cruz Was a Fair Decision, Says DiBella

Not every close decision is a controversial one. In the case of Carl Frampton's majority decision over Leo Santa Cruz this past Saturday, one judge had it a draw at 114-114 while the other two had it a wider victory for Frampton, at 116-112 and 117-111.

9-3 was definitely too wide. 6-6 to 8-4 Frampton is the fair range I think, and 7-5 to 8-4 Frampton are probably the "right" scores.

I can see how someone ends up with 9-3 Frampton, but I think such a score is very unfair to Santa Cruz.

      judging question:

frampton loses all of round 2 (out jabbed and took big power shots)
comes back to hurt visibly cruz late in round, but cruz doesnt stop firing off and hits him just as cleanly...

does that round to go to frampton?? tell me wat you think

i say no...based on leo biting down and landing back with his own shots on top of winning the entire round prior...

No it wasn't. It should've been unanimous.

The 9-3 card was just as bad as the draw.

tbh i saw cruz win 8 rounds...his jab was pretty dominant in round 1-3 that i just rewatched...and he landed power shots with it...frampton had very few answer to me due to his defense being leaky and cruz being longer

Frampton round. You knock a guy off balance like that it wipes out being outworked. I look for the most meaningful punches.

I thought 7-5 was good but no way a draw, whoever the guy was that saw it "even"...

watch in hd also slomo...even though i didnt need it..showtime feed was heavy frampton for w/e reason, but even they mentioned that leo's jab was working and frampton's was gone...leo walked through most shot while frampton had to catch his balance while going back..
the wars started mostly bc framtpon saw leo coming back in rounds and he would try to finish strong but leo was better while trading..

i have to disagree u have to fight a full round..and so many guys have came back from being hurt to get ko's to tell us that being wobbled in boxing is not enough...the word meaningful is vague here...i just jugde power shots vs jabs..

but i will say if you hurt a guy multiple time u've like done yourself a huge favor...but you hav to keep him hurt and not let him start Tee'ing off on you like your shot was just ate and digested quickly
