    135 becoming exciting again?

Lightweight is historically one of best divisions in boxing, but it's been a bit quiet and low on quality recently. With Mikey planning on fighting there now and Easter + Verdejo looking to break through soon, could it become a marquee division again? Also guys like Lomachenko, Walters, Pedraza etc will no doubt move up sooner or later, making the division even more stacked.

What began the resurgence imo was Linares/Mitchell. From then on, LW became a division to pay attention to. There's so many match-ups that can still occur, and hopefully they do happen. I wonder how many will step in the ring with Easter, dude is a skysc****r.

Yeah it's stacked but everyone wants to get to 140 so they can jump to 147.

      Mikey
      Dejan
      Linares
      Easter
      Mitchell
      Crolla
      Verdejo
      Flannigan
      Commey

But it feels like just a stop over.

Is Mikey for sure competing at 135?

And I think we are a solid year away from things really getting interesting at 135 if it does. Too many of these next guys aren't quite at next guy levels yet or haven't proven they are capable 100% of being the next guy. Plus once we find out whats up with some of these guys even if they are all that then standard boxing marination suggests that it'll be 6mos to a year before any of the really big & interesting fights go down.

Garcia looked real rusty. He needs a couple more tuneups.

I think it's starting to heat up.
I want Loma to clean up 130 before going to 135. By then 135 should be even better.
If Verdejo proves to be the real deal then Top Rank has themselves a big fight in Lomachenko vs. Verdejo.

Like I said I want Loma to clean up 130 first. Lots of good fights to be made at 130. Hopefully they can get Loma more active. They have failed to do just that so far.

Barthlemy is at 140, keep up. He's ranked 2 by the WBC for Crawford.

He'll go to 135, being a 5 division champ is a huge goal for him.

126-154 I think that is where the Core of the young up and coming talent is at to be honest. Big night for 126 last night and that Division as well is full of extremely talented fighter all entering their prime together which will make for great fights.

But yes at 135 that is why I think Mikey Garcia should stay at 135 for awhile, he can truly build a legacy in that Division by Unifying. He has plenty of options at 135 before starting to move up. He has Flanagan, the winner of Linares vs Crolla, Denis Shafikov, Dejan Zlaticanin, Robert Easter Jr., Richard Commey then you have Felix Verdejo, Alejandro Luna, Gervonte Davis on the rise so yes that Division has a lot of possibilities and of course Loma could move up as well Pedraza, Walters, Jezreel Corrales and other top Current Super Featherweights.

As posted in another thread, Mikey Garcia vs Felix Verdejo could grow into a HUGE FIGHT within a year or so if both keep winning of course which is no guarantee because Easter Jr, Zlaticanin, Commey and Shafikov are very dangerous fighters
