  • Comments Thread For: Frampton: Rigondeaux is Great, But Not For Me To Make Money

It wasn’t long after Carl Frampton was announced the winner over Leo Santa Cruz in a fantastic featherweight fight that the champion of the junior featherweight division took to Twitter.

The business of boxing. A little surprising that a Frampton/Rigondeaux fight couldn't be profitable for Frampton in Belfast. I know a Selby fight has been mentioned but that and a Russell fight are really the only big fights available besides a Santa Cruz rematch.

Rigondeaux said he wasn't going up to 126.
Unless he didn't want to go to 126 for certain fighters.

Rigo has no intentions of moving up to 126. So asking Frampton that question is pointless.

Boxers these days beat one big name and want to cash in on that win by fighting no-hopers for the rest of their careers. He would make good money on a Rigo fight in front of his people.

It would be profitable, just not as profitable. I'm a fan of Rigo but now he is with ROC there is no reason why he can't start to up his profile more and make sure that he does bring more than a pound to the table.

I disagree with Frampton somewhat. A Rigo-Carl match-up may not be a barn-burner like last night's fight but there'd still be plenty of exchanges.

Lol, well there'll always be a risk/reward ratio in effect.

Honestly, Quigg is the one who should be looking to fight Rigo.

Frampton ducked Rigo already -- what's new here?

Many of you guys don't realize that when Frampton beat Quigg he literally said in the post conference that he'd love to fight Rigo...but. He said "love"

It was McGuigan that said the money wasn't right, not Frampton

i understand that a santa cruz rematch and selby for example are higher priority for carl, but i don't like that he is ruling out a rigondeaux fight altogether

but if rigo is willing to fight at 126, then he messed up by turning down that $500k he was offered to face lomachenko
