Keys to Victory for Frampton

When Carl Frampton meets Leo Santa-Cruz, what will be the keys to his victory?

I see his jab and counters from the outside as being his path. A busy guy like Santa-Cruz has to be hit hard enough to get his respect and then pick shots from the outside. I think Santa-Cruz must make this an in your face fight all night. However, Frampton can use his footwork to crate distance and his uppercuts to get respect. That's my limited knowledge.

He needs to make LSC overextend. I think Carl is better technically but his gas tank sucks so I think LSC will outwork him and win a decision.

Upper.body.movement. When you have that kind of volume coming at you, you either have to be super rugged and KO the other guy, clinch them to death and pot shot, or be extremely hard to hit and be able to serve up some quick counters. Frampton isn't particularly equipped to do any of those but movement and countering is his best bet. Leo won't play to Carl's usual game so it's Frampton that has to adapt here. I think he'll have success in the first through 3rd but the tide will shift to LSC and his non-stop ****in (no ****).

I think Frampton's a fantastic fighter. More talented than Leo. This just looks too be a bad stylistic match-up for him. High volume punchers can be ugly to deal with and skill alone just doesn't cut it. I think Mares was more talented than Leo but he still couldn't hurt him, couldn't slow him, or out-last him.

Very true. I liked that fight. They put on a good scrap, one of PBC's best yet. Santa-Cruz is a beast so far. Should be interesting.

LSC is a super volume puncher so stay out of range as much as possible, do a quick in & out, don't stay in the pocket too long, & also as Foxx pointed out a lot of upper body movement to avoid the volume when in range & attack the body to slow down LSC in later rounds..
Frampton has good skills but LSC has a long reach & enough power to KO him.. The longer the fight goes the better for Frampton but he better be ready to be on his bicycle all 12 rounds..
