I agree! I can't stand how fans usually disown boxers for getting a loss or two...

It's a ridiculous offer when you say "Anyone from 154-168". Canelo is blasted for saying dumb sht. So should ggg.

Golovkin's team has never mentioned any problem at all with fighting super middleweights at the super middleweight limit except for Ward. He is the only fighter they ever came up with excuses not to fight at 168. That is what makes 164 ridiculous. His team is clearly looking for an advantage against him where they feel they don't need one against Chavez, Froch, Kessler, DeGale, or whoever else at 168 they have wanted to fight.

Which makes you think they don't really want to fight Ward.

What I don't understand is if Ward wanted the fight in 2016, would he still have made 168? Hes said that making the weight was becoming difficult, hence fighting at 172 after his lay off. We dont know exactly when in 2016 it would have happened, but if what he said was true, 168 might have been too much to cut. And seeing that he weighed 186 against Barrera, LHW seems to be where his body feels comfortable. Despite after all this time, I've still never been convinced that there was a reasonable and practical time for this fight to happen.

I don't buy that theory. First, 164 was not a demand. It was a response to Ward's "50-50" stance he had since late 2014. He was talking like Golovkin is a no name bum, and they said "dude, you barely fought in 2 years, and you weren't even popular then". That's where the whole A-side BS came about.

Second, people don't know or don't remember the actual timeline of this whole drama BS. Loeffler's comment was made AFTER the fight fell apart.
                  1. The fight fell apart due to Ward desire for comeback fights. Here's an article from as far back as April 2015.
                  2. Here's Golovkin saying Ward is dead to him in June 2015. In case you missed this, he's basically telling Ward to go F himself. The fight is DEAD at this point.
                  3. Here's Loeffler responding to "What it will take to make Ward-Golovkin" by mentioning 164. He also mentions "tuneups" again.
                  4. Ward mentions his offer to fight Golovkin in September 2015, and he says it was made "about a month ago". At this time, the fight between them has been dead for at LEAST 2 months. He's talking out of his ass. He knew this offer was not real and would get rejected for the bull**** it was.

That is the actual timeline of the events. The sad thing is that majority of fans are not objective and see what they want to see. They want to hate Golovkin and thus keep singing the ducking stories. Neither guy is ducking another. I think they both legitimately dislike one another and think they can kick each other's ass.

I generally don't bother writing all of that up because it usually falls on deaf ears, but I greatly respect you as a poster so figure I'd take another stab at it.

So your claim is that the suggestion K2 made to Ward in June/July 2015 for a 164 catchweight fight in the fall of 2015 is the legitimate offer Golovkin made to Ward even though Ward was still a 168 pound champion until he vacated his title in November of 2015?

                    C'mon now.

So there should be no issues with Canelo offering Golovkin a catchweight Middleweight fight either? After all, Canelo is clearly the A-side to Golovkin, correct?
