Floyd fought hard fights to get to where he is. That's when he was Pretty Boy. When he turned into Money, he was a star and earned the right to call the shots and pick his fights. Berto and The Ghost were terrible cherry picks, I'll excuse Berto cuz that's supposedly his last fight, plus, he just fought Pac. You can say Marquez too because of the weight, but Floyd took two years off when that fight happened. Point being, there's a reason why he was able to do that. He worked to get to that elite level. You don't just get there for nothing.
Same thing with Pac. He fought hard to get to the position he's in now. Rios was tailor made for Pac. A lot of Pac's best wins, after he became a star, were calculated, low risk fights against guys he would look good against. Rios, Hatton, Margarito, aka, guys who stand right in front of you. Let's mention Algeri too, the guy who barely sc****d by Provodnikov.
The stars became stars because of what they did early in their careers. Once they're stars, they're fighting for paydays and being showcased. It's the same thing for every star. Not just Mayweather or Pac.Comment

Sports is not about letting your opponent choose the size of the ring, the kind of pillow gloves to use, the ref to choose, the judges to choose, the kind of shoes your opponent should wear. Those diva conditions are not done in the nba, NFL, hockey, baseball, it's only in our fuvked up sports called boxing is where being a star gets you to play unfairly and think that's cool.
Most sports travel around seeking competition from state to state. It's only in this sport were an athlete can stay in one place called Vegas were in that place favors him and gets to have all the perks of home court cooking. Only in boxing.
So your analogy is fuvked up my friend. What you mentioned is not the essence of true competition. That is not the essence of sports and that is why because of Floyd boxing cherry picking is now rubbing off to the new generation of fighters. Floyd damaged boxing to a whole new level. Floyd's ways is the study of what not to do in boxing.Last edited by Spoon23; 07-30-2016, 11:58 PM.Comment

Naah, hogwash.. Nba teams, NFL, football etc.. Fight to the end to reach the nba finals, Super Bowl, Stanley cup, etc to reach the top and be crowned champions for a chosen sport and repeat it again the Next year if they can. an athlete will keep on doing that ritual until they retire, they are programmed to always be in the pursuit of a challenge and coveting the glory of trying to reach the top of their chosen sport. That is what sports is about. Challenges. Not cherry picking, not calling the shots, but, fair game buddy, it's reaching the top over and over again every year, coz every year is a different challenge. That's the essence of competitive sport. You try to earn it every year in the spirit of fair game and name in the spirit of diva like status. This is sports, this is not a singer celebrity were you perform and be primodonna. Sports is about challenges.

Floyd, being the richest boxer in the history of the sport, obtained that position of power. Why do you think everyone was gunning for a Floyd fight? Most of those guys didn't even care about winning. They wanted that massive payday. They were more than happy to bend backwards for Floyd because they knew they were going to be set for life after the fight regardless of what happens.
Trust me. Any fighter who finds themselves in that position, is going to do exactly what Floyd did. Mark my words. Greed is very powerful.
And don't make it out like Floyd's the fighter who invented cherry picking. Fighters at the top of their game have been doing it way before Floyd. So stop. Team Pac cherry picked as well.Comment

This is boxing. Don't compare it to team sports. Does not work in anyway, no matter how you cut it. The very nature of the NFL, NHL, NBA is so much different from boxing you can't say anything.

Were in the essence of sport is sportsmanship. Which is derive from the word itself.
Boxing is a sport. Listen up. It is a sport.
You are what's wrong in boxing too. You can't see what's wrong with your statements.
# yes they are doing it already. The new generation are following the Floyd diva blueprint. That is what's fuvked up in boxing. This sport has no governing body like the nba, NFL, major leagues, that's what's wrong in boxing. Without proper rules to govern this sport. Floyd divas will sprout out to ruin the essence of boxing which is challenging oneself for top competition and not cherry picking to an illusional manufactured fake greatness.
Truth hurts.
