    Roach is overrated.

Roach is one of the most overrated trainers ever, and last night proved it. Pacquiao got exposed by Floyd, Cotto was looking like a new fighter until he fought Canelo, and now Postol got dominated by Crawford. Know what they all have in common? They all are/were trained by Roach.

If he hadn't found and trained a great talent like Pacquiao, I doubt anyone would even know who he is.

Because his fighters lose a couple of fights? I agree that Roach is pretty much a celebrity trainer at this point and doesn't deserve several of his TotY awards but your argument is flawed, no trainer is gonna have a stable of elite undefeated fighters all of the time.

If you're basing this off last night, it's horribly wrong. Roach can not be a good in ring trainer to Postol. Viktor speaks no English and all of roachs instructions had to be translated from Russian to English. Not only do things get lost in translation, you waste a lot of time, but more importantly, it's very difficult to form a bond and develop trust if someone else constantly has to translate. It's not as bad when you can understand but are shy about talking.. But Postol couldn't even understand.

There was little bond between that fighter and coach.

celebrity trainer is right. Hes got so many different fighters hes training, he cant give them all the individual attention they need, its best to have your own dedicated trainer.

most fighters come to freddy for a few fights and then switch again to another trainer. those are the guys he gets, the ones who are endlessly switching trainers, like cotto

I think that Roach knows his boxing, and he is great at teaching the basics. If you watch his tutorial videos, he is a brilliant coach at training technique, and I also think he is good at getting his fighters in shape. However when it comes to strategies, I don't think he goes into fights, giving his boxers the best game-plans. I have seen time and time again where his fighters are fighting the wrong fight and with a tweak in strategy, they could have had a better shot. But I don't know, the guy has trained dozens of world champions, he must be doing something right.

Well, if the fighter is mediocre a trainer can't win the fight for him alone.

Trainers are overrated. Is the fighter that have to actually win the fight by controlling his own mind and body and defeat his opponent.

Cotto did very well against a stronger, younger, bigger fighter in his prime with Canelo. Better than his other losing performances for sure.

Doesn't natter who trained Postol, he wasn't beating crawford, not yesterday, not 2 years from now.

Lmao at people who automatically blame the trainer, you just became a fan yesterday?

All trainers are overrated. It has a lot more to do with the fighter at this stage. Roach trains a lot of guys. He spreads himself thin. I think a great trainer is one a fighter is comfortable and willing to give his all to. Game planning in boxing goes a long way, but most of the good trainers can put together a good enough game plan.

Roach was an all time great trainer...until Olympic style drug testing came along.

Pretty sure if you checked the stats since then, you'll find mr roach coached himself to a losing record.

Thanks floyd for cleaning up the sport.
