True. But still I read that Mayweather would get 22 million to fight Oscar. Anyone fighting oscar expects to make a ton of money, and when you have a wild boxer like Mayorga vs Oscar De La Hoya on May 5th Weekend, its going to be a huge fight. Mayorga holds the title and it seems obvious that Oscar fights Moyarge considering that Vargas got his ass handed to him by Mosley. The champion usually gets a 70/30 cut, being thats its Oscar, Mayorga should have at least got 40%. I bet Oscar is making 10million+ for this fight. Oscar can't fight no names anymore and pull of the same numbers, those days ended with Tyson.

I see your point. I agree with some of the previous posts that it's probably just a ploy on Mayorgas part...

I'm sure Oscar is making upwards of 12 mil...Mayorga deserves around 4 mil being that he is the champ.

because if oscar is getting paid more than mayorga, and i'm mayorga I would be pissed because i'm the champion and I should get paid more then the challeneger. but I wouldn't demnad all that money 3 days before the fight.

but as I said before, I think it's just a stunt to get more people to watch the fight, and in my opinion that mayorga will win and it will probably be the last time we see oscar.
            Just to let you know.

Belt or no belt......Oscar is the draw. Nobody will ever get paid more money than him in a fight against him.

That's just not in the cards. He's the largest draw in professional boxing.

He could lose his next five fights by first round knockout....and still dictate the terms monetarily.....no matter who he faces.

In future fights you will probably now see a guarantee that if you "Pull Out" due to wanting more money then what was agreed upon, that you will get sued for loss of revenue from cancellation/trying to extort money; plus the suspension of your boxing license.

Clearly, if Mayorga really knew he was getting 2 million, thought it would be smart to wait till the last week (when the fight has already been built up and money has been spent on promotion), that Oscar would have to pay him for the sake of keeping the fight.
Then again, when there is Don King involved we know from the past that other fighters have had similar contractual complaints with him.

That's just the way the ball rolls.

There are no two ways about it. He's like Mike Tyson.

Completely false. America has some of the nicest rough area in the world, nithing compared to latin america and africa and all that.

That's why a rematch between him and Tito never happen, Oscar is more about money than pride.
