Makes perfect sense. The career Welterweight is actually larger than the career Middleweight. Apparently Brook is actually dropping an additional 13 pounds to make Welterweight every time he fights BUT Golovkin can't drop 4 pounds to face Canelo. It's this type of BS that causes many boxing fans to criticize and ridicule Golovkin on a regular basis.
Just say that Brook will be a Middleweight when he faces Golovkin and move on.
Even the casuals refer to them as Team Bull**** now LMAOComment

Exactly. Nothing can spin the fact that it is what it is and should not have taken place. For Hearn to have so much influence over team GGG to the point where Hearn had full control over team GGG that they were hypnotized into taking a second pick (a welterweight) that Hearn managed, that is weak minded on the part of team GGG. Almost like falling for a bait and switch. I cannot believe out of the ton of top 154 pounders that none of them accepted. I doubt team GGG even offered all the top guys in the loaded 154 pound division a shot....which is better than 147.Comment

Abel Sanchez hyping GGG's fight, "Everyone thought Hagler was going to kill Leonard and look what happened!" When your own trainer feels compelled to sow seeds of doubt, it's a bad mismatch. I like Golovkin but Sanchez needs to stop talking to the press for a couple of months.
fixed.....

The thing is, Leonard had a three year layoff too
Before there was a 147, WW fighting MW was very common.
Now the MW division has been split in three, so we have 154/160/some 168er that all would have been MW before.
Back then Brook wouldn't of been a WW because of same day weigh in. GGG would be a SMW and Brook a MW.
The knock for Brook is he didn't tune up or try 154. But considering the events that surround the fight, it's not that bad.Comment

168 -1984 Super middleweight
160 -1884 Middleweight
154 -1962 Super welterweight/Junior/Lt middleweight
147 -1914 Welterweight
GGG would of been a LHW! Brook would of been a SMW or at LEAST made SWM if not WW.
Your BS story doe...Comment
