HBO has been dealing with early year budget restraints and by putting the Crawford-Postal fight card on pay-per-view, the public pays most of the fighters' purses. Arum said the bout needs around 80,000 buys to become a break-even proposition.

HBO is on pace for the same 16 live boxing cards it broadcast in 2015 but is reserving its license-fee funds in hopes of landing separate late-year fight cards featuring popular champions Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

Those fights better be better than Crawford vs. Postol. Tom Loeffler already said the Jacobs fight can't be done without it being on PPV so we know he won't be fighting Jacobs come late fall. If Canelo fights Saunders that'll be pretty good. HBO needs to put pressure on them to fight good competition if they're not going to pay for Crawford vs. Postol or Walters vs. Lomachenko.

Makes sense, save $ for hoping of Canelo & GGg fights to save their garbage season. I assume Canelo fights Saunders in Dec which is a good fight( Why put this on reg HBO & Smith PPV, I don't Get it ) and I expect K2 to put in another no hoper against Gennady


HBO has been pretty disappointing this year with the exception of Vargas / Ali & Salido/ Vargas nothing else is worth mentioning or fights that I even cared about. And the only thing on deck that I even have a remote interest in is GGG / Brook. HBO sucking b.alls this year

Back in the day, they spent tons of cash for regular hbo fights, but we're rewarded by having guys like tito, barrera, morales, manny, hopkins, shane, cotto, vargas, Oscar, roy all being able to headline PPV fights... Now it's only canelo, and maybe GGG and the ward/kovolev winner that has any chance of being a PPv draw..

Sorry but guys like crawford, verdejo, etc are never gonna be PPv stars and hbo isn't going to spend a lot of money on them

Ricans love Verdejo and I read that a lot of them are moving to Orlando. There's money there.

Then they should only do PPV and drop the prices in half. Problem solved. I'd come out of pocket $20 six times a year. I'm not dropping $69.99 on two no named up and comers (Postol and Crawford.)

But hey, that's just me...
