Saunders selling his belt to highest bidder, in this case Canelo. He knows he'll lose a close controversial decision just like Lara. Probably relieved to not have to take the beating he would against Golovkin.

And boxing fans wonder why the popularity of the sport has been in steady decline. This is a textbook scenario of the schenanigans promoters, management, and the boxers themselves have been getting away with for years. I dont care if Can-yellow or ******* Saunders fight or not but it shouldn't be sanctioned by and of the governing body's nor should it be set a title fight. Should Canelo wins or loses, then he gets nothing other than a paycheck, and should BJS lose, he should be stripped of his title and the belt forfeited to the next #1 mandatory challenger. Neither of these two duckers, should be rewarded in any way (title wise) when they both have flat out refused to fight GGG.

Either 1)HBO is going to cut/have spoken of cutting a massive check for the US TV rights to Alvarez-Saunders or 2)Team Canelo is slow-walking the PPV talk, to lat his fanbase digest paying for his next fight before they have to think about paying for his next two fights [especially at a time where a lot of folks are also likely going to be looking at paying for Kovalev-Ward in November].

December is 5 months away; the Alvarez-Smith happen first (if Canelo puts 50k+ into Jerryland, on top of doing 700k+ PPV buys, any talks of Canelo fighting a first run on premium TV is over)

How would he have belt leverage? Its 1 belt against 3... If anything it puts more pressure on him to fight GGG.

GGG then needs to make concession to fight him for the title that he needs so badly.. could be the weight(I'm not sure if WBO are gonna put their foot down & say no).. The purse splits..
If you thought getting a belt from BJS was difficult(4mil$), by beating BJS Canelo would have what GGG needs & don't you think he would play his cards right to have Golovkin take a less pay + CW bs..

I think that, since the Lara fight, the Kirkland fight put 40k people into a single venue, the Cotto fight did over 900k paying homes, and the Khan fight (even with the flack that that fight got) did over 600k homes.

Saul Alvarez has an established audience that is more than willing to spend the money to see him. With the pomp of Jerryland, in addition to Liam Smith being a world champion and the same size as Canelo, people are going to be shocked at the business that the fight ends up doing once the promotion gets going.
