  • Comments Thread For: Luke Campbell Believes U.S. Move Was The Right One

Hull's Luke Campbell (13-1, 11 KOs) believes that the sacrifices he has made over the past six months will help him put his sole loss behind him and propel him into world title contention. The former Olympian was out-pointed by Yvan Mendy in December. The defeat prompted a move to Miami to hook up with Jorge Rubio, and Campbell insists that the decision will pay dividends down the line.

Mendez coming off a KO loss but still, he's a good, proven fighter and it seems like this could be a repeat of the Mendy fight. Rubio did well with Cotto though so hoping Campbell shows the improvements.

Was that not Pedro Diaz who trained cotto?

Rubio trained khan for ko1 vs prescott iirc

I remember Sky commentary saying Campbell lost to Mendy because Campbell hasn't quite developed his "man strength" yet...

        He's almost 29.

It's probably because he looks like he's about 14.

Yeah you're right, would've thought Campbell could've got someone a bit better than that.

Not a bad step up. Mendez doesn't really have a punch and hasn't looked good for three years or so, but he's got skills and has been in with good opposition, so should be a decent test for Campbell

I can't understand why he didn't take a low key fight why he was over there!
