So what if it's not for an alphabet belt? Most belts are BS and most "title defenses" are sad mismatches. GGG doesn't need belts to be the MW champion, and if Brook beats him, nobody is going to care if he's won an alphabet belt or not except fans who think an alphabet belt = a world champion

The day that Canelo vacated should have been the day the WBA ordered GGG vs. Jacobs! I'm not sure if Jacobs would've wanted the fight, but the WBA should not have their MW Super Champ fighting WWs, when they have a "Regular" MW champ available! NOT a good look!

The "King of Brooklyn" is positioned to only receive 25% of a winning purse bid and has already called the $1.5mill offer for a Golovkin fight - "Chump Change". Unless somebody bids over $6mill on that fight, he's not getting over that $1.5mill unless he agrees to K2's negotiations.

Lou DiBella, when the fight goes to purse bids, will likely win the bid, cutting Jacobs in on the upside of the event; no different than how Golden Boy won the bid for N'Dam-Lemieux with a quarter million dollars yet Lemieux, once all was said and done, still ended up making over $1m on the fight.

All DiBella needs to do is win the bid (I doubt that K2 is even going to be willing to lay out $4m to try to secure the fight); Golovkin's purse gets locked in at 75% of the bid, and Jacobs is in position to get 25% of the bid, plus the upside revenues on the fight (Russia/Kazakhstan/Germany/EU/UK will all be interested in carrying the international rights on the fight, Barclays Center likely sells out for the event, Espinoza could likely be convinced to put up the money to make the fight a PPV event, etc).

Once the WBA mandates the fight, Golovkin's nuts will be placed in a vice, as K2 tries to find a way to convince the boxing public that giving up the WBA belt was "good for boxing".
