Cotto ducking like always. Brook has balls, would have probably knocked out Cotto. If Cotto thought he could win why wouldnt he have taken the fight? Only fights to cash out or crippled old fighters like Marquez. Does boxing even need this diva? What a Diva Cotto became over the years, kinda ruined his career.

He became a diva because his failure to exercise control over his career basically cost him his prime. It's not like this diva business came out of nowhere. He got schooled a couple of times, took serious beatings, and decided he wasn't going to lose a fight at the negotiation stage (Pac) or in the dressing room (Margarito) again. Sure: he's a diva...but it's his flesh, blood and bone sacrifice that put him in the position to be one.

Maybe it's time for him to retire, but he doesn't really deserve all the contempt thrown his way.

Vargas only agreed with Top Rank - Top Rank never agreed the fight with Hearn because they wanted too much money. $2m plus US TV is what was offered and Top Rank refused. That's 3 times more than Vargas has ever made.

The fight didn't get made because Vargas/Top Rank wanted more money than they were worth.

They didn't want more money than they were worth. Hearn had already agreed to pay them what they negotiated. The money was agreed to that's why Vargas signed his end of the deal. Brook and Hearn pulled out of the fight after they'd already agreed to terms. There is a video I posted yesterday of Kell saying he'd agreed to the fight and the fight would be announced within 48 hrs. That was supposed to be when Hearn announced the GGG-Eubank fight. He was going to announce them both. Hearn saw the Eubank-GGG fight slipping away so Hearn cancelled the Brook-Vargas fight. Hearn said the GGG-Eubank fight would make up for the loss he was taking putting on the Vargas-Brook fight. He was never going to sign the Brook-Vargas fight until he had GGG-Eubank signed first. That's why Vargas was waiting over a month for Kell to sign. Vargas did not price himself out.

In the Brook interview he said he'd be basically fighting for free if they paid Vargas what they were asking and that's why the fight fell through. He never said he signed. I think you need to listen again.

No they didn't. I suggest you watch both the Hearn and Brook interviews that have been posted on here in the last few days. All the way through.

Hearn and Brook both said, quite clearly, that Top Rank were offered $2m plus US TV for the Vargas fight and TR wanted more. The fight couldn't be made because Hearn couldn't pay more because the fight wouldn't generate enough.

Vargas signed a contract with TR for the fight, not with Hearn.

He basically admitted he's looking for top names not top competition. Spence and Vargas agreed but I guess their names aren't big enough. Vargas has a belt so there's no excuse not to fight him. And Vargas was willing to travel. More proof that Brook took the fight for money not because he has big balls.

His offer was reduced by 10% (still easily a career high payday) and he pulled the plug.

Brook is only taking a page out of Khan's book. I give him credit for stepping up to fight GGG, but he knows that its a win win situation. If he gets KO'd it wont damage his stock just like Khan getting Ko'd by Canelo didn't hurt his. But if she happens to win, hes the man in the sport. The light he's getting for taking the GGG fight is what he needs bc otherwise a lot of people have no idea who he is bc he fights overseas and fights nobodies. Cotto would've brought him a big check, but in no way could Brook call any shots in that fight. He hasn't earned a damn thing in the sport to call any shots against an ATG like Cotto. UK TV, Really? No that's not why the fight fell thru. He said the fight will be announced within 48 hrs. Arum said Hearn came to him a week before and said they had to adjust some things because of Brexit and Bob hadn't heard from Hearns in a week but they had agreed. That fight was never going to happen unless Eubank-GGG happened because Eddie said the Eubank-GGG fight would make up for the loss he's taking on the Brook-Vargas fight. That's why he moved their date back instead of scheduling Eubank-GGG behind the fight. If he would've kept the Vargas-GGG date for Sept and scheduled the GGG-Eubank fight for October they'd still be negotiating. By moving a fight that was already done, he put a faster deadline on the Eubank-GGG fight.
