"Boxing Insurance" in NY is the UFC's fault.

And where are you seeing that the UFC lobbied to pay more money to put on fights in NY? Thats bad business & the UFC isn't known as a company thats throwing out money in particular to keep out a sport (boxing) that it doesn't see as much of a threat to their business.

I don't think that has anything to do with the Ali Act. In fact I'd call the Ali Act a limp **** of a bill that does little to prevent the corruption or help fighters. In fact I think I've seen more big name fighters on the sidelines since the Ali Act then at any point previous cuz the most prolific change the Ali Act might have done is getting promoters better lawyers to create more ironclad contracts.

I am not at all suggesting the UFC isn't doing some f#cked up things cuz they clearly are. The Reebok situation you bring up might be their biggest error or certainly among them. But an Ali Act for MMA isn't going to happen cuz the UFC is too powerful & the guys trying to put this Ali Act for MMA together are f#cking morons.
I'm saying if the Mago situation was a determining factor the issue would've been pushed before this bill or even at the onset. NY has denied any wrongdoing in the case and the Judge threw out the lawsuit. There have been no steps taken in NY to rectify the situation. No one has been held accountable and no action has taken place to attempt to hold anyone accountable. The ********* was slipped in at the last second. That's classic lobbying. If it had anything to do with the Mago situation it would've been mentioned in committee which decides what bills will enter the floor for a vote. But it wasn't.

The fighters leading the push for the Ali act are probably morons but once the government takes over it's out of their hands.

Agree to disagree I guess. I just can't see how such a well known NY boxing tragedy WASN'T something that came into the discussion about this new insurance requirement that helps make sure that severely injured or killed boxers & their families are better taken care of.

Thats classic dumb politician with a "good" idea too.

And even if it is lobbying who says its the UFC?

I don't really see an upside in the UFC wanting this particular requirement to limit combat sports in NY to the UFC & Bellator & HUGE boxing events only. Thats killing all lower level MMA too that is part of the success of the UFC model. They go into a region, MMA gets more popular, minor MMA leagues pop up, the fanbase grows & the UFC picks up the best fighters in that region from these new minor MMA leagues then they profit more with that bigger fanbase that these minor MMA leagues help breed & grow.

The fighters leading the push for the Ali act are probably morons but once the government takes over it's out of their hands.
Cmon make up your mind on one side you're saying that the UFC is making successful lobbying efforts to f#ck up their own $ just to screw over a non-threatening sport (& the minor MMA feeder leagues they snag their prospects from) & on the other side you are suggesting that a bill only being promoted by 4 knuckleheads & a knucklehead who somehow won an election & is looking out for the 4 aforementioned knuckleheads & that would hugely f#ck over the MMA world that the UFC largely runs yet somehow couldn't or wouldn't lobby to get that killed.
