Once Froch retired, he wanted 172 because he couldnt make 168 anymore. The first time around Golovkin agreed to all of Froch's demands and instead he retired.

Froch said 172 and asked to meet to discuss it and Loeffler didn't show. There's an interview on youtube and you can see Loeffler wasn't interested when he saw how big Froch was.
I like Froch but the second I read "172" I gave the benefit of the doubt to Golovkin.
