Maybe for your next thread in this series you can analyze Calzaghe vs Manfredo Jr. I'd be curious to hear your count of how many slaps actually landed in that final flurry before Terry O'Connor jumped in to stop the fight.
Technically he's not my countryman, of course, as I don't shag sheep.

My score is open to question, but the boring one looked unlucky.

As for Terry O'Connor, he saved Manfredo Jr. from certain death that night.

I never use Compubox (or, in this case, Compuslap and Compubutt) to score fights, it's pointless. It doesn't take into account ring generalship, etc. Just as an example of how useless it can be, those stats have Slapsie winning the round he was KD'd in, if taken on face value.

I assumed he was being ironic, but you never know...

hopkins and roy both wayyyyy past prime in their 40s yet dropped calzaghe.

what would have happened had they fought in their primes???

calzaghe stayed in his division and decided to move up only when the legends were senior citizens.

if that wasnt bad enough, he retired when his career division supermiddle finally got hot with the supersix.

          calzaghe is worse than floyd.

That's not all quite true. Obviously he was fighting a Hopkins who was two divisions heavier than he was in his prime, and that was only a flash KD anyway, I can excuse that.

Far more embarrassing was Roy Jones' granddad nearly KOing him a round.

As for the Super Six, Calzaghe retired when Froch was still fighting at domestic level. There's a fan myth that Calzaghe ducked Froch, but he was already retiring before Froch had entered world class.. the myth was largely put about by Froch himself, of course.

Though Froch's best-ever line was about Calzaghe: "his career's got more question marks than the Riddler's cat suit."
