Sound EXACTLY right!!!
Typical Top Skank contract.
Sign 6 fight contract. BUT After the 4Th fight a 3 fight extension kicks in. So now you need 7 fights total but now your still one fight away after 6 and they want you sign ANOTHER extension or put you on the shelf with 1 fight remaining. And if you become a Champion then ANOTHER 6 fight extension kicks in. If you win by three KO's ANOTHER extension kicks in. Then if you fight Pac and when a 4 fight extension kicks in. And if you lose a 3 fight extension kicks in.
They need to amend the Ali act to get rid of this BS!!! And have ACTUAL length in years instead of just fights. That way they can put you on the shelf and never fight you if your only 1-2 fights away from full filling your side of the ContractComment

Doesn't an extension of a contract need the fighters signature. How can Top Rank extend Mikey's contract without his sig on a contract? Without his signature the contract is void.
I'd like to hear both sides of the story before I make my case.Comment

Umm wasn't Gamboa the LightWeight Champion??? Last I looked 135 lbs is LW...I can totally understand Garcia not wanting to sign an extension & I can understand to an extent Garcia not wanting less than Crawford was offered to fight Gamboa. What bothers me as a fan though is Garcia was not making weight at 126 (un-professional) then he moves up to 130 and is getting caught and knocked down by inferior opponent then he wanted to move up to 135 to fight Gamboa? To me it doesnt seem like Garcia is 100% mentally in the boxing game and if he was getting knocked down by 130lbers he might get put to sleep at 140+. He has skill but he is somewhat robotic and isnt that fast & I can only see him being slower at a higher weight, I dont think Garcia has the frame to fight higher than 135 but knowing the Garcia gym he will probably fight above his size and probably still not make the contracted weight.
Makes sense to me. Gamboa didn't want to fight at 130 for a belt he wouldn't keep.Comment

???? Leo just had an AWESOME fight against a VERY talented Abner Mares and you might not of heard but hes fighting an UNDEFEATED highly RANKED fighter names Frampton that alot of experts say is a 50/50 fight. But way to show everyone you don't know SHT about boxing. Continue getting pounded by Bob Arum though. So basically Todd Deboef told him the reason he needs tue extension is because top rank builds for the long term, and that they wanted a guarantee that they could continue to build the Mikey Garcia brand.
And Mikey somehow takes this as a bad thing?
There is no other promoter/manager in boxing right now builds stars or long term projects.
Haymon/golden boy hasn't built one ppv star from scratch.... EVER! these fighters are fcking ******ed, Mikey had it all, now he lost 2 years and will sign with Haymon and never be a real star. He's going down the road of Santa-Cruz and Chavez Jr.Comment

Santa Cruz career is going no were, just like everyone else who signed with Haymon.???? Haymon got all these fighters, all that investor money, and none of them are stars, that's pathetic.
Chavez was going to make a career payday vs GGG on hbo w top rank.
Instead he signed with Haymon and look how his career has plummeted.
Mexicans are booing him now!
Name me ONE star Haymon has built by himself. You cant because he's never done it! You might make easy money with Haymon you'll never be a star!Comment

NOPE! Not always. Most times ESPECIALLY with Top Skank it's a clause in your Orginal contract you signed. A lot of times if you win a major belt an extension automatically kicks in. It can be almost anything that kicks in.

KO 4 guys in a row.
Lose a fight. But usually they drop you lol.
