Out of interest who do we reckon the top middleweights would be if there was no Gennady currently?

Then out of more interest let's assume these same middleweights battle it out over titles vacated by the recently retired undisputed, ring and lineal former king of the division, all get in a few defences, avoiding each other for a few years and then entered a little tourney to see who was best, like a super 6 for middleweights say. Included in said tourney was a little known GGG, former amateur standout, bit of a rep as a hard hitter.

Who do we think wins the tournament and would the winner struggle to tedious points wins or possibly KO everyone in their path?

Then what if the same tourney winner then takes a couple easy tickover fights, drags a relatively light punching but quite skilled SMW champ with some successful defences to their name down to their weight and wins in spectacular fashion?

Then maybe some contractual disagreements keep the guy out of the game for a while. When they come back they struggle with the weight, take some soft tune ups and then sign to fight a bit of a beast at SMW, one weight up.

It's quite interesting to think about really.

I've never seen so many "fighters" in any weight class duck one guy. You'd have to look up Sam Langford to find a guy so thoroughly avoided. But at least he was relatively unknown and fighters had an excuse to duck him. Everybody knows Golovkin and...holy crap, the most popular Mexican fighter of his time gave up a freaking belt to duck Golovkin. Incredible.

If he beats Kovalev he is clearly #1 due to great resume AND biggest recent win in the sport , if he loses .... welp he is done for in regards to ranking as his latest fights were **** fights.

Roach keeps singing different tunes. I thought people would realize this about him now? It seems like every boxing coach does this. They all talk chit to bring attention to their fighter, so the fighter doesn't have to do it. Roach is just talking chit as per usual switching sides to get Pacquiao's name out there again.
