I am a Golovkin fan & I agree he is not P4P #1.. I like Ward, but for sure he isn't #1 either because of the obvious reasons of inactivity & level of opponents post super 6.. One cannot make the strongest case for both of these guys to be #1 however good they are/were.. if Ward beats Kovalev, he needs to be #1 & anyone who questions that is plain ******..
Also, p4p is biased too.. Klitschko was on that list until he lost, the man who beats him does not even make it to the list..

As I said earlier, this is one man's opinion & he is entitled to it..

So top 5 p4p doesn't make sense to many us. Doesn't mean he isn't a great fighter or a phenomenal athlete it means what was done in the past doesn't compensate for the past five years. He beats Kovalev and yeah you can call him the best p4p fighter in the sport and that can't be argued until someone knocks him off it.
This is spot on.. green k sent..

That's the reason why your boy Cotto ran from him.

I don't think we've seen the best of Golovkin yet by any stretch though but I was hoping Loeffler would give us the opportunity to see it and instead we end up with Brook. I do believe Golovkin under a different promoter, one with real financial leverage and pull would've by now destroyed many a highly ranked name.
Interesting points but this article is about Roach's opinions on Golovkin's and Ward's P4P statuses. Also, K2, Golovkin's team and loyal fans can't keep talking about Golovkin being the best, the new face of boxing, a superstar but then not be able or willing to offer potential opponents enough financial reward to fight him. Can't have it both ways. Top dogs like DLH, Mayweather, Pac, Canelo, Cotto, etc have/had opponents lining up because the reward made the risk acceptable. It's K2 and Team Golovkin's responsibility to make that happen now, especially when the top contenders are much younger, know they do not need Golovkin to make money and Golovkin is on the wrong side of 30.

          Just one man's opinion.

              Agreed.

It would also be hard for me to put Fury on the P4P list yet. I need to see more from him than beating a 40 yr old heavyweight champion. Fury has plenty of time and potential opponents to prove himself.

Why? Din't he beat the man, who was the man? It was not Fury's fault the champ was 40yr old & for what we know, the tables can change too & Wlad might win the rematch..

Heck, I am making an argument for Fury being a Wlad's fan.. But what's right is right though..

it's gonzalez until someone takes it from him

if he looks great against cuadras then it will even be difficult to put ward or kovalev above him in november. if he goes on to face estrada and inoue, i don't think anyone could unseat him until he slips up
