If Canelo had been honest and relinquished the WBC MW title before fighting Khan he wouldn't have got the same negative reaction over it.

Golovkin agreed to allow Canelo a voluntary defence before enforcing his mando because he believed that Canelo was going to fight a MW, at 160, to prepare himself for GGG next. Canelo vs Khan at 155 was a kick in the teeth to boxing fans, not just K2 and Golovkin.

Golovkin isn't fighting a WW instead of a more worthy MW challenger, as was the case with Canelo/Khan. There are no more worthy MW challengers who want to fight him.
