Naw not really. I been saying for years Chilemba is a really good fighter. KOvalev didn't look like the terminator but he still looked good tho. He won without a doubt.

Ward will win when they fight but that doesn't mean Kovalev isn't an ATG fighter because he is its just Dre is other worldly good.

A central attack from the Krusher is the straight right to the body -- this is countered by coming over with a jab. Note that in exchange it favors you as he is off balance since his weight is shifted mostly on one leg , you must exploit this.

Disguise your attack preferably with faints right after Kovalev gets his off as he tends to rest right after and is rather lazy to defend at that moment: here you can see Chilemba setting up the the right hand to the body ( keep in mind he had been sticking the jab to the torso in order to condition Kovalev as a result he became passive to the right hand). Second sequence Chilemba feints a jab and turns it into a hook.

Switch it up on Kovalev show him levels ( high-low ) make yourself smaller by ducking ; this creates the illusion that you are farther from the perceived distance and give you the advantage when you explode moving forward -- Works great on taller opponents Tyson was a master at it.

Io ales was easily timed with an irritating jab, and Ward has a mean jab.

On clinches Ward will work Kova and take his will...

                  It's a bit complicated...

Ward vs Kovalev is a true 50/50 fight for many reasons. What I saw last night, was Kovalev being Kovalev. It was a good performance given the circumstances. Chilemba is a good fighter with a good defense and a good jab. Who said he was supposed to KO Chilemba???? Did he clearly win and do what he was supposed to do? Absolutely.

The main weakness I see in SK is his inability to fight on the inside. Against a fighter like Ward who is great at it, it could be a problem. Ward knows how to SMOTHER your power shots on the inside. Kovalev needs room to hurt you. Kind of like Kelly Pavlik used to do. He needs space and extension on his punches to do damage. Other than that, I don't see any weaknesses in his game.

In conclusion, keep in mind that Ward fights more like Hopkins than he does Chilemba. And we all know what happened to Hopkins. SK is a very smart fighter and adapts as the fight goes along. If Ward cannot handle Kovalev's power, he'll lose. If he can, he will win.
