Kovalev V Andre Ward is NO WHERE NEAR a 50 50 fight.

I honestly don't think he would have, the things that worked for him in this fight due to Kovalev's weaknesses would not work for him against Ward. He's also a light hitter which is a problem as Ward would not be paying for any mistakes. Ward has a better jab, better general defense and head movement and the speed advantage. That doesn't mean Ward is better than Kovalev but styles make fights, I don't rate Kovalevs boxing ability as high as some because I think his power masks his flaws. It's a lot easier to control or outbox a guy you can hurt at anytime.

The one question is whether Ward takes as good a punch as Chilemba and I can't say for sure but I don't think he will be hurt by everything Kovalev lands, Ward gets the glass chin tag because he was dropped by Boone but since then he has not been hurt. He definitely can't let Kovalev land anything like that 7th round right hand.

Thats how good this fight is and i for one am pumped to see it because there really aint no calling it. this is one of those fights we may be talking about 20 years from now.

It wasn't close but it was competitive.... It doesn't degrade Kov in my view because I knew he wasn't this supreme boxer to begin with. Chilemba would not pose problems for Ward at all.... he wouldn't get whitewashed but he won't be a threat either, but we can agree to disagree. We do agree in that the November fight will be one for the ages. May the best man win.

What inside game does Kovalev have? Ward is far better. He may choose to crowd the heck outta Krusher, not allowing him to get the distance and leverage on his shots. You step to punchers, you don't let them get the room they need to put power behind their punches

sounds like someone has moved around a bit in the ring....thats exactly what my trainer used to say, its safer in the pocket vs a puncher


the most recent example was Porter vs Thurman, if they dont have the proper distance, it takes a bit off the power

Dont be dumb, Ward is doing nothing to Kovalev on the inside but getting his head kicked in. Ward can beat Kovalev but he will do it with movement and not letting Kovalev get set. He sits on the inside with him he will get beat to death.

Kovalev is not a good inside fighter. Ward will smother his work at that range.

seems to me, history says that when a ko fighter faces a skilled boxer, the skilled boxer usually wins. Beacause when the ko fighter's power doesnt work he has nothing else to fall back on in terms of boxing skill. So Ill have to go with ward on this one
