Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Chilemba is Three Levels Above Ward's Opponent Brand
Collapse

... it isn't "bizarre" at all: Ward actually doesn't need a solid challenge, unless he wants to put himself in peril of being sparked too early...Roc Nation are paying $2 million for each of Ward's tune up fights, and HBO are screening them, to try and get the US fans interested in Ward and make them want to buy PPV tickets to see him fight Kovalev. Without PPV sales, the money for Ward and Kovalev's purses isn't there and the fight isn't happening.
If Ward and Virgil are really trying to sell Andre's fight with Krusher to the US public, then Alexander Brand is a bizzare choice of opponent to achieve that.
Not so bizzare if they are hoping to delay the Kovalev fight till next year and squeeze another $2 million tune-up cheque out of Roc.Comment

Don't worry Sanchez your fighter is safely facing WW's at the MW limit, he'll never have to get the work he deserves from Ward.
Side note, Ward doesn't need to learn anything from facing opponents at this point. He's seen it all. The only reason he takes this fight is to stay active, shake off rust and practice his weapons.Comment

these dudes dont have common sense...Like Virgil Hunter said, if he is ready now he'll never beDon't worry Sanchez your fighter is safely facing WW's at the MW limit, he'll never have to get the work he deserves from Ward.

Exactly, this is like studying for the Bar exam while have a partnership in a multi-million dollar practice. You think a guy with this pedigree really needs to find a new skill set for Kovalev? Of course not. And if he does, he's not going to learn it one fight.
Like you pointed out, he's been fighting longer than he hasn't been, and if Kovalev is still trying to study a way to win by fighting Chilemba, then he's out of his league already.Comment

I don't know how much better than Froch Kovalev is based on resume (Kovalev's resume really is Hop and Pascal and neither were the best them), but I can see each being the other's best fight. It'll be a good one, because Kova can be slick at times and is strong, and Ward is a hell of a technician so we'll see.Comment

I'd say Froch and Kov are close level...Froch was guy who wasnt pretty to watch, with underrated skill, and overrated Power...he overachieved imoI don't know how much better than Froch Kovalev is based on resume (Kovalev's resume really is Hop and Pascal and neither were the best them), but I can see each being the other's best fight. Kov is a little more polished, has size and is undefeated so I figure he may be his best opponent
wont know until november
