Monzon defended his MW title against WW champ Napoles. Hagler defended against Hearns and SRL, both WWs at that time.

Hagler also defended his MW crown against Duran, who was a freaking LW!

Golovkin isn't avoiding challengers from his own division to fight Brook, like Canelo did with Khan, none of the MW contenders want to know him.

Massive props to Kell Brook for doing what Canelo, BJS, and Jacobs wouldn't do. I really hope the UK fans get behind him and pay to watch this fight the way they would have done with GGG/Jnr.

Maybe someone from 154 moves up...

Doesn't seem like any of those will happen though the way things have gone.
So don't you learn from that experience and not waste another year waiting on the 3 stooges: Canelo, Billie Hoe and Jacobs?

Or do you just say, life is good, we're making good money taking soft touches, let's just ride the gravy train until we have no choice?

There's literally nobody at Middleweight. Andy Lee, Korobov, Heiland? Nobody cares about any of those fights..

168 has Jack and Degale, that's it and they're fighting each other. Nobody cares about Ramirez yet and the Dirells are not getting a GGG fight...
is there a date for this fight already?? i dont think it has even been signed, and degale has the same promoter as brook, and by the way vargas had a contract signed to fight brooks and was only waiting on brook to sign it, now we know why he didnt...
degale could have been an option if they wanted, but they didnt..

Yes. It was a grotesque conspiracy aimed to deprive Jr of his well deserved greatness and to save poor GGG's face.

The problem is there's nowhere to run off to. 168 is not exactly a glamor division. If he could fight at 154 then he'd have numerous opponents to make big fights with but I don't think that's realistic.

They'll never give up on the Canelo fight, it's too lucrative of an option compared to anything else out there.

So WW vs MW is the thing now? You have a whole 168 that will fight you, but would rather look at Welters?

I don't know??? Why would they want to put their belts on the line against GGG??? I would rather take another belt then just defend mine??? Loeffler doesn't pay that great either.

I mean hardcore fans would love it but casuals fans won't. Brook vs. GGG in the O2 will be an EASY sale over seas. CASUALS and Hardcore a like will buy tickets.

160 is a SHTY division right now. 168 isn't much better! Unless he can make it to LHW not much to do.

160 at least has some great boxers sitting at 154 and 147... Suks but GGG is kind of screwed!

Exactly. I saw video where Eubank Sr was saying that they deserved more money because the fighters come first and all this stuff. After verbally agreeing to terms, he wanted to up the money portion when it was time to sign and apparently wanted control of the promotion also.

GGG trying to fight 3 times this year. If he didn't get an opponent for September, he'd be lucky to end the year with 2 fights.

Everyone should definitely thank Andre "The Cow" Ward for making this fight possible as well. If Andre hadn't jumped 2 weight classes to fight the world p4p star Art Bradley or Abe Bradley something like that...then GGG would have already been a Super Middleweight which is a fake weight class anyway.
