If he'd signed to fight Anthony Joshua on Sky PPV instead of Brook, they would be murdering him now for ducking Wilder. And Ward, of course. Can't leave him out. Lol.

Even Hagler was perceived to be past prime vs Ray Leonard. Golovkin is smack in the midst of his prime and continues to fight underwhelming opponents, his only option for greatness is to move up and beat the best at 168 and 175.....that's the only way he'll ever compare to a BHop!

There wasn't a single fighter who would turn down a Floyd. Not one
Even Ward and Hopkins talked about it, knowing full well it probably won't happen. Same for Golovkin.
The Brook fight is a disgrace. Surely any middleweight would be better.
But I really don't understand the fixation of certain posters on here, of wanting Golovkin to move up so badly. 168 is pretty poor itself. Two two best fighters there haven't looked special, and look set for a showdown.
Golovkin is 1 fight away from being the first Undisputed champion in a decade. Let him achieve that, then he can move divisions. If anything though, i'd like to see him at 154, it looks more achievable considering Golovkin would be severely undersized at 168

People talk shot about Floyd but I recall when he couldn't get fights with Nas, Frietas, Cotto, Hatton he moved up in weight, he didn't just sit there at 135, 140 waiting for somebody from a lower weight class to give him an opportunity, he went up and took it!
Golovkin has shown no ambition to take glory, he just sitting around letting his fans build his legend while his resume underwhelme!
Again, you're trying to use one terrible year to justify an opinion that Golovkin has never tried to make good fights and isn't interested in making them, because he's happy to be a fraud and pretend he is ducked. In the span of 3 years Golovkin went from a nobody that couldn't even get a top 10 contender into the ring to one of the bigger names in boxing and one belt from being undisputed MW champion. Until recently he did everything right.
Mayweather moved up over the years because he turned pro much younger than Golovkin and grew in weight as he aged. That's why 99% of pro boxers move up in weight. He did take chances at 154, and he deserves a ton of credit for that. Golovkin turned pro later and hasn't grown out of his divison. And let's not pretend Golovkin hasn't tried to make fights at 168. He has, multiple times, and those fights fell through. That is not Golovkin's fault.
So let's stop blaming Golovkin for things that aren't his fault and let's also stop pretending two non-fan friendly decisions invalidate all the trouble he has gone through to land big fights. There is plenty enough blame to put on him for things that actually are his fault, like the shameless way they went about the Andre Ward issue and this fight against an unproven welterweight.

Bottom line is G and Loeffler said for years anyone from 154-168. Well, there is Canelo at 155, Lara at 160, and Ward at 168. But instead he goes for a welterweight? If G wanted the money he would be fighting Canelo. He would rather keep collecting $2 mill a fight with little to no risk. That's fine, but just say it and don't act like everyone is scared of you so you have to fight guys two divisions lower.
