However, given the situation and the fact that Golovkin, while he does fight low, is still a natural middleweight with bone-breaking power who can move up and is of course, 34 years old, I have changed my mind.

This is fight is pretty pointless. Golovkin is pound for pound one of the best right now. I do believe that. However, no one doubts him crushing Brook. Boxing is boxing and anything can happen, but no. This is very long odds fight, where I only see Golovkin knocking him out.

If he were to fight anybody at 168, the result is not so certain and his stock goes up. it is all about risk and taking chances for sure. My favorites of all time like Duran and Hearns, damn sure took plenty of risks. So, yes. This fight is a waste of time. I'm a GGG fan to the end, but this is pointless. This is a rare time when NSB has swayed me. Cong****. Haha.
This fight is not 'pointless'. For one, Brook is still a great fighter, and two, it will be a chance to build up Golovkin in the UK.

This is getting tiring to repeat, but everyone who's whining "why is he fighting Brook", none of them can name another fight who he should be fighting. Look through the other threads, you'll see names like Heiland and Khurtsidze being thrown around. Give me a break. Wade was a top10 contender ranked by IBF, and he's an absolute crap bum, but all of a sudden Heiland and Khurtsidze are star opponents?

The haters are gonna b1tch, it doesn't matter about what. At least we'll get an entertaining fight in an exciting atmosphere.

      I don't believe any of that ****.

If you pay those guys, they will fight him..... for the money, and the shine.

K2 are tight-as-fk, and are notoriously difficult to deal with.

      Ask any Klitschko opponent.

Hell, ask Cotto and Canelo !!

Get this..... Team Bull**** dictated to the SUPERSTARS Cotto and Canelo.

And they have not just failed to secure Saunders, they have never landed a meaningful fight EVER!

Enough with the bull****..... they could have fought Mora/Ward/Lara/Canelo, DEFINITELY!..... and possibly Cotto, and most likely Jacobs/Saunders as well.

After talking all that smack for FOUR YEARS about 154..... how could Golovkin possibly walk away from the TWO BIGGEST PAYDAYS available in the sport by refusing to negotiate on the weight with 153lb Cotto and 155lb Canelo?

And btw, hanging around a DEAD middleweight division for Saunders is absurd..... there is no drive for genuine greatness from that team..... they just want to lame their way to Hopkins record, without having to take any risks.
      Pay who?

Who are these fcking fighters that deserve these huge paydays?

Who the fck is Eubanks? Who the fck is Saunders? Who the fck is Jacobs?

All of a sudden to get these guys in the ring you need to pay them big money? These are nobodies.

Ain't no networks investing in these guys, I don't see anyone on this website getting hyped about fcking Danny Jacobs.

I don't see any fcking Eubanks sigs on any members profiles.

These guys should be jumping for an opportunity to fight the best and one of the biggest names in the sport. This is some cowardly nonsense.

How the fck did we allow this sport to get a point whe the best fighters can't land opponents, this is ridiculous.

I'm just seeing a mismatch is all. I have no doubt that GGG will squash him. I want to see him in there with somebody I'm not sure he'll beat. Maybe he could try the heavyweights. Haha

It is a mismatch for the most part. But it's the best, most obvious option that's open to him. There's noone else left. You can't b1tch about a fight and not give any alternatives.

I also find it highly ironic that Golovkin is getting so much crap for accepting Brook's challenge with a weight disparity of 13 lbs on paper, while Ward is getting lauded for talking crap about Golovkin even though they have 15 lbs disparity on paper.
You have one guy who got stuck with a smaller guy and another who's calling out the smaller guy.

Haha. It's all a big mess, but that's boxing. Well, I think Groves or other super middles would be willing to fight him even at 164. That would be a less sure bout. Of course, I'm sure he's getting good money for this fight and money, after all, talks.

another turdy poster who bashed Canelo/Khan, and yet wholeheartedly supports GGG/Brook.....

SHAME on you non-boxing fanboys !

But you are dreaming if you think those guys have any obligation to happily fall in line for Golovkin.

They don't give a **** about him, they owe him NOTHING.

Pay them, for their loss..... pay them, for their commitment to that fight.

                Just do something.

Golovkin tried to dictate terms to Cotto and Canelo FFS, so I know exactly what treatment Saunders/Jacobs got..... they got what every single Klitschko opponent complained about.....

..... and not only did Loeffler get caught lying about the Saunders purse, he was DREAMING if he thought that Saunders would fight Golovkin with TWO BETTER offers on the table..... Saunders was completely open about the Canelo/Eubanks offers, he told the media.

They should stop the bull**** and pay the man.

Same with Jacobs, he said they offered him the same as he got paid for Quillin, which is ridiculous...... these guys need to start making some mutually-beneficial business decisions, rather than low-balling the lesser guys and dictating to the stars...... no wonder Gennady has never landed a meaningful fight.

Seriously, after talking all that shht about "anyone from 154-" how did Golovkin miss out on BOTH Cotto and Canelo..... he should have fought BOTH of those guys.

But nope, nothing..... and no Ward either, or Lara..... just a bunch of equally unacceptable excuses.

And the same with Mora. I know that guys like to write-off that situation with derision, but I followed that very closely back in 2012..... an ex-champ who has clearly faded is the PERFECT opponent for a guy who is trying to establish himself..... yet they did the same thing with Mora that they did with Ward/Lara..... they did not provide 1 genuine reason, just a bunch that silly excuses that all sounded ridiculous..... and what a coincidence, Mora/Lara/Ward are ALL mover/spoilers who are notoriously difficult to look good against.

I'm not buying the bull****, I know whats up..... boxing is all about matchmaking/styles.

They " avoided " those 3 guys, and they also avoided negotiating with Cotto and Canelo on the weight..... which is mind-boggling, considering all that "anyone from 154-168" crap...... I think that Golovkin would fight Saunders/Jacobs, but I don't know why they can't make those fights happen.

Just sick of the excuses and the bull**** from that team.

Jacobs/Saunders should not be pushed into accepting a deal that Golovkin himself would not accept if the roles were reversed..... take it on the chin, pay Saunders what he wants..... then move up because middleweight is DEAD
