Well i didn't see that coming and it feels really bad, i believe he is the best fighter p4p in the world, he brings great things to boxing (he is educated, doesn't trash talk, always seeks the ko, is fun to watch with good skills, etc...), but this is terrible and what makes this fight terrible is the fight of GGG talking about Canelo being a coward for fighting a welterweight and then he does exactly the same, i know that it was for desperate reasons, but they are some better options i believe, and even when i wish more than anyone an undisputed champion, he should have moved up, but know he is in a loss/loss situation, and for the first time since when i wanted Pirog to win, i wish Brooks win.
What i think about GGG vs Brook, being a GGG fan.

He got ****ed around for too long by too many people so they took the deal on the table from Hearn. It is what it is. It's not what Golovkin wanted or the fans, but ****, Canelo wasted his time, Saunders, Jacobs wouldn't fight and Eubank wasted his time.
If they have to fight someone lower I'd prefer Charlo bros or Andrade myself. I guess the Charlo bros have mandatories and Andrade is fighting some guy I never heard of. Crappy situation. Might as well just sit out and wait.Comment

Sanchez has been continually talking about 168, why does every Golovkin fan ignore this? Are we supposed to believe that no 168lbers would fight him? I doubt K2 even tried.
THAT was the best option.
This whole "they had no choice" thing... Considering the tremendous backlash they're getting over this I don't consider this much of a choice either. It's OK to say, "They fked up and I don't like it".Comment

No fight at 168 brings him the money he will get for this fight. Not even close.Sanchez has been continually talking about 168, why does every Golovkin fan ignore this? Are we supposed to believe that no 168lbers would fight him? I doubt K2 even tried.

IMO, with GGG everything that's outside 160 is a business move. And that's what they said. We are at 160, but we would go down or up for the right (means !rich) fight.
Brook brings a lot of $$ and is bigger name than any fighter he could fight at 160 or even at 168 in September. And IMO no point in fighting no champions at 168 (if it is not a huge name like Chavez, etc..)
It sucks, but it is what it is. He still fights 3 times per year, so I am good.
Brook is actually a nice little fight. I would much prefer Eubank much more, but well.. they all do the same when it comes to backing up the words.Comment

Let's get serious here. There is not a single genuine middleweight around in his league. Just look at the top 10 rankings for all the organisations. Eubank is about the only one left that would give him a fight and is willing to fight him. BJS isn't in his league and has himself admitted it and Jacobs is another potential who is ducking him. GGG was clearly lined up for Jr and would have fought him if not for his Jr's bullet head of a dad. As a last minute switch Brook is a good replacement from a number of standpoints - big earner, great exposure to the UK fanbase, good exposure for Brook in the US, etc etc. From a fight standpoint, there's only one winner - I just hope he GGG doesn't badly damage him and Brook can return to where he belongs.Comment

Im sure k2 didn't try anything after Eubank wouldn't sign. They took the deal on the table after a few weeks of working on the Eubank fight and after getting turned down by Saunders before that and of course the whole Canelo situation that wasted the whole year.Sanchez has been continually talking about 168, why does every Golovkin fan ignore this? Are we supposed to believe that no 168lbers would fight him? I doubt K2 even tried.

There was a choice. K2 could have rejected the second offer from Hearn (Brook) and then go look elsewhere and hope to find something relatively soon. Seems clear they liked the deal Hearn set up in the UK, especially since k2 has talked about wanting to fight in the UK for at least two years now. For better or worse, k2 felt it best to take the Brook fight now, figure out future opponents laterComment

Eubank wants the fight. Billy Joe wants the fight. Jacobs wants the fight. Lara wants the fight. Andrade wants the fight. Ward wanted the fight. Gilberto Ramirez wants the fight.
Instead, let's cherry pick welters and claim that no one wants the fight and people will believe it because HBO loves us, "Mexican style."
