As per Ward's HBO contract, he had to fight Kovalev.. I see no reason why this fight wouldn't happen.. Surely the money aspect would have sorted and the venue is booked, there is a date penciled against it.. The only reason I believe that might delay it could be if either guy injures himself during their next fight or the build up to the Nov. fight..

Chilemba is Ring #7 at light heavyweight (not 168) and he's a DECADE YOUNGER than Brand at age 29.

And the only reason Kovalev is fighting him, is because prima donna Ward feels he's not ready yet.

I know right.. & the fans are due at least an entertaining fight after May-Pac PPV robbery.. It is the perfect example of speed vs power(Canelo vs Khan was a joke)..
But this fight sadly won't do great numbers as other PPV fights.. I am not sure what the gate $ would be but both guys are not a biiig draw in Vegas & I was wondering what would have been the reason for the venue.. Heck, it would be selfish of me to have it in AC, MSG, Barclays though so that I can go..

There is some good fighst to be made. LHW has been a hot-bed for a while now, but we haven't really seen the fights get made. Hopefully the Kovalev Vs Ward fight can kick start a change in that trend.

This is such a good match-up, that even the loser will have options. They can go straight into another big math-up and prevail.

Just imagine the opponents are reversed. How does Ward-Chilemba and Kovalev-Brand sound? Thought so.

Please explain how all of Azz Clown Ward's opponents have been paid very well when Ward himself couldn't draw flies to ****e in his own hometown dump of Oakland! Ward won't fight outside of Oakland and has always been scared to because he won't get the same home cooked crap decision after crap decision. Don't give me the bull about he's fought outside of Oakland, it was once in Atlantic City and he knew he was fighting a bum. Ward has the ugliest head butting, mugging and holding, let me run outta here style I've ever seen. For a guy that claimed a few titles and was lineal champ at Super Middleweight, he has never made any huge money or huge money fights because face it, his style sucks and no one wants to watch and again he won't fight outside of OAKLAND!! Hopefully when Kovalev takes his soul we will never hear of Ward again! Ward didn't have very many KO's at Super Middleweight what makes you think he's going to clear out the Light Heavyweight division with the hard hitters there! People pay to see a FIGHT, like we saw a couple of weekends ago between Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter!
