Ehh. He had a few good KO's against known guys. beat Chazz Witherspoon good, came off the deck against Travis Walker to KO him. In hindsight, those wins are meaningless, but at the time, they were decent wins. Especially the state that the division was in back then, I think it was enough to warrant a shot.

Talking about now, hell naw! Arreola sucks! Has no business fighting for a title.

Arreola is a decent opponent on such short notice. He has a name that will draw, I doubt any of the other options would have accepted a fight with Wilder without a longer training camp.

It's not Wilder's fault that Povetkin didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

I love how honest Arreola is in this interview. Basically saying he sucks, lol. Couldn't be more accurate!

The irony of it all is that Arreola stands a decent chance of winning! As crappy as his previous performances have been, I wouldn't be surprised if he caught Wilder with a random, wild hook as Wilder's off balance on the move!

Walker and Witherspoon were not " known" fighters. Those fights meant as much to me then as they do now which is not much.

I just meant he was undefeated before that and people were hyping him. A fighter that's already been exposed is a more attractive opponent.

                What am I pretending again?

edit: nvm I get it... Mentioned Klitschko on boxingscene. The K word.

But like I said, the division was crap back then. Who else deserved a title shot back then more than Arreola? At least he was undefeated, had KO's, and was featured on HBO, which means he had some exposure. People knew who he was.

He came up as a pro at a time when the heavyweight division was weak. That's pretty much how he got his shot against Klitschko and ever since then, he's hung around the ranks.
